I remember when I first came up with this track. I was sitting on the Studio couch playing a little guitar riff that reminded me of Sade. It was already a little late at night but I had it stuck in my head. Once I heard those Drums it was wraps. I ended up playing and putting everything together in about 30 minutes to an hour. It was a super fun exercise, but also the track came up pretty cool too!! ๐ค

1. Demo everything first
Even rough phone recordings help reveal weak lyrics, awkward transitions, or timing problems.
2. Set goals before the session
Know whether the day is for songwriting, tracking, vocals, mixing, or experimenting.
3. Practice to a click track
Even if the final song breathes naturally, click comfort saves hours.
4. Bring references
Have 2โ3 songs that represent the vibe, drum sound, vocal tone, or mix you want.
5. Warm up before recording
Vocals, hands, wrists, breathing. Make the most of your time and donโt let the first takes be your warmup takes.
6. Eat and hydrate
Low energy kills creativity faster than most people realize.
7. Trust the engineer, but communicate
If something feels wrong in your headphones or mix, communicate.
8. Protect the energy in the room
Too many people, phones, or distractions can kill momentum.
