Stacey Burgay
I’m an artist inspired by the streets, sounds and emotions of place. Founding member @thatcreativespace and @nycollageensemble

It’s here! Our first Creative Retreat.
I’ve put together what I think is a really special week —
with a group of incredible women artists and facilitators:
Amy Soucy @resonantheart — a yoga teacher and mindfulness facilitator who will guide us in slowing down, reconnecting, and opening up to creativity in a more intuitive way
Kelly Kingman @kellykingman — a visual note-taker and educator who will help you learn how to capture what you’re noticing
Laura Leigh @artbylauraleigh — a painter and pigment-maker whose work is rooted in landscape, color, and materials. She’ll guide you in making your own watercolors to use as your palette
and me, @staceycollages — will help you bringing it all together and hold space for you to explore, make, and see what unfolds
Along with creative sessions that build on each other, beautiful places to explore, and enough free time to just breathe.
I designed this retreat because I believe creativity is one of the best things we can do for ourselves — and Beacon is the perfect muse.
Consider this your invitation — or share it with someone who would love this.

Just added to @thatcreativespace schedule! A good reason to make a trip up to Beacon! A collage party with a twist! Think musical chairs — but with paper, scissors, and glue. Every 25 minutes you switch seats and keep building on someone else’s collage. Collaborative, unpredictable, really fun. Light refreshments, good music, no experience necessary. Link in bio to register.

Thanks @galeria.vida for the opportunity to exhibit with you as part of NYCE Work exhibition with @nycollageensemble. You can see all thefeatured work via link in Gallery Vida’s bio.

I got to make some art today! I’m normally in studio but since I opened @thatcreativespace I’m planning, coordinating, ordering supplies, setting up for class, creating marketing materials, cleaning up after class but today I got to play.
Before everything was a screen, we did so much with our hands.
If you love exploring fiber arts and have been curious about handspinning, join us Wednesday, January 21, from 6–8 pm for Intro to Drop Spindle Spinning with @hvhandspinning
The workshop includes your own spindle to take home. Learn more about register on our website. Link in bio.

While I was wizzing through the Times Square subway, I stopped in my tracks to view these mosaics by Nick Cave. Wow, it’s wonderful when you can bring art into the public but it’s a shame that most don’t stop to appreciate it.

It’s funny. Last year at this time I was sitting in meetings, collecting feedback on advertising creative, and now I’m the “creative” (without the design or art direction background…) making flyers and postcards and putting them all around town and the surrounding towns.
Here is this month’s flyer, which sums up everything we have going on for the rest of November. If you’re wondering about the artwork in the flyer it’s mine @staceycollages made from a 1940s vogue cover and layers of transfers and ripped paper.
