SPACE10 is closing after almost a decade. It’s been such an inspiring journey and we feel proud to have created an open, playful, and purpose-driven research and design lab that has engaged millions of people in our mission to create a better everyday life for people and the planet.

We started our collaboration with @IKEA in 2014, and we feel immensely proud to have influenced one of the biggest design companies in the world while making our ideas portable and shaping conversations in everything from technology, design, architecture and food.

SPACE10 was never meant to last. We were set up to spark a stronger innovation culture at IKEA, and today we’re proud to see that innovation initiatives are flourishing across IKEA. Therefore, it feels like the right moment to let IKEA continue what we started together and embark on our own new adventures.

SPACE10 was a unique place to work filled with dedicated and passionate people, bringing expertise and perspectives from around the world. We have developed friendships with people in our community and many of the 500 exceptional partners that we’ve collaborated with over the years.

We have explored everything from flat-pack housing to dogless hotdogs, self-driving cars, and decentralised clean energy. We’ve popped up in Mexico City, London, New York, Delhi, and Shanghai. Together, we’ve shown that remarkable things can happen when people and ideas come together around a shared purpose.

To celebrate a decade of innovation at SPACE10, a new website goes live today featuring selected work from 2015-2023. In true SPACE10 spirit, we will give access to our open-source projects, reports, guidelines, presentation templates, and our team handbook.

We will close our physical doors in Copenhagen on 31 August, 2023.

We would like to sincerely thank each and every one of you who we’ve met over the years. It’s been a privilege to be surrounded by so many inspiring people. And finally, a big thank you to IKEA for the support, trust, and the courage to let us challenge you.

We are excited to share that SPACE10 Library has been named as the winner in the Workplace category in @FastCompany’s 2023 Innovation by Design Awards!

In January 2023, we opened SPACE10 Library to be a place for inspiration and community, featuring 100 essential books for creating a better everyday life for people and the planet — chosen by the SPACE10 team and our global community.

Visit us Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
