𝘽𝙪𝙣𝙪𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙨 𝙉𝙞𝙘𝙖 | yuca con queso, chantily, canela syrup, apple.

This dessert is very special to us and, in many ways, is what sets our evenings apart from what we’ve done in the past with @solrad.co.

Inspired by @hunnyybee__ and her Nicaraguan heritage, this Central American Buñuelo is made from Yuca, a staple in Nicaraguan cuisine. Years ago when we first were dating Mel would encourage me to taste her cuisine. We would go to any and all Nica restaurant we could find, and there aren’t many. Without a doubt this is how we’d end the meal, every time.

We hope to serve you soon and invite you to END THE MEAL with our Buñuelos Nica.

This is Mel…and I’m Teo. A lot of you may know us as @solrad.co, the hands behind your favorite breakfast burritos…
We met right out of high school at 18 and fell in love.
A Nicaraguan girl, a Mexican American boy.
Two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl…
We started a family very young, then a small business.
We cooked together, traveled together, struggled together and ultimately grew closer…together. Because we knew together we were unstoppable.
Our business grew from sidewalks and parking lots to a
take out window with a wholesale breakfast burrito program, to more pop ups, then a kitchen residency at our favorite local bar, just a few blocks from our home in Uptown Whittier…@thevandalist_uptown.
We’ve been quietly operating the kitchen here for the better part of a year now and we’ve learned so much about our community, our space, and ourselves. We feel it’s time to give our dinner service its own lane. So that we can have the creative freedom to let this thing become what it chooses, with out confinement or restriction from our day concept and
celestial sister to ‘Nueva- @solrad.co.
CosaNueva is our love letter to the Latin American kitchen.
The neighborhood bar. To each other and to you.
