New single out today featuring @kushthedrummer! “Sketches” was originally a chord progression I wrote as accompaniment to a John Coltrane interview, I tried to make the harmony respond emotionally to what he was saying. Then I took the interview out of the mix, and we recorded saxophone, flute, and drums with Kush over the chords at @jlouca studio. Even though the interview is no longer audible, there’s a space left behind, that’s the theme of my album Archaeoacoustics—out April 24th on @endectomorph —mixed and master by @jlouca

This song “Quasicrystal” is based on a fragment from Debussy’s Sonata for flute viola and harp, and later switches to a fragment of Coltrane’s solo on “Peace on Earth”. These two motifs are inversions of almost the same idea! so I titled the song after a rare form of symmetry found in nature. Recording mastered by the great @jlouca
The cat pictured is my roommate’s cat, he’s quite a character and I thank him for his contribution to this album!
Thank you to my friends for encouraging me to put this music out and @endectomorph for making it happen on their label!

We are very happy to announce that on February 1st, our most recent album, Sape, will be released on all platforms.
Sape is a collaboration between Saúl Ojeda, Pedro Cervera, Roberto Verástegui, and Ben Solomon, and features original pieces as well as several arrangements of borrowed works. You can not miss it: February 1st, SAPE in all platforms.
