🚨 Project Announcement! 🚨 Have you heard of the Grand Canyon Traverse?

A 600 mile east-to-west navigation of the canyon, in which a vast majority of progress comes off trail while hugging sheer cliffs, traversing exposed shale shelves, and route finding through complex networks of canyon.

Only around 50 people have ever completed a Grand Canyon Traverse, and each person has created a unique path through.

The canyon runs for 277 miles of the Colorado River, but total on-foot mileage varies greatly depending on each person's skill sets, risk tolerance, and terrain preferences.

I have backcountry experience in the canyon through my time on the Hayduke and Divide to Crest Routes, so I'm no stranger to the challenges the canyon presents. That being said, I'll spend the next 4.5 months training, practicing skills, and planning logistics before starting in October.

I'm grateful to have three respected outdoor brands standing with me, making this project possible.

I'll carry an @ospreypacks backpack, just like I did on the AT FKT. Their packs are well-built and lightweight. I’ve never had one fail me.

@smartwool has me covered. Light and breathable merino wool will keep my body temperature regulated. In the canyon where temperatures swing between extremes, I trust Smartwool to keep me safe and comfortable.

@sawyerproducts Squeeze filter will be there for me as it always has been. Keeping me safe even when I'm drinking out of the same dirty pothole water that the rest of the animals in the desert have been drinking out of (and worse) for weeks.

This project will be the biggest, and definitely scariest one I've ever attempted. This year is about staying off the beaten path, and walking your own. I think that's something we could all use more of, so I can't wait to bring you along for the ride.

Superrrr stoked to finally be able to share this with you all, we’re now part of the Smartwool Athlete Team!

This really feels like a full-circle moment. Around this time five years ago, they sent us our first box of Smartwool socks for our Denali expedition, and now we’re part of their athlete team.
