As a VJ, I live mix video and visuals to emphasize the aesthetics of events and complement the deejays' sound. In a season of changes. I'll be having surgery this coming July,a hip replacement that will open a new chapter for me. I've struggled with chronic pain and health complications from a SCFE gone wrong that turned into an acute fracture and emergency surgery when I was younger. A summer bed bound. Sixth grade in a wheel chair. Two screws. A script for physical therapy that seemed never ending following me well into my adult life with little impact. But my problem is structural and has been wearing and tearing for over 20 years, it can never be exercised away. My recovery window is six weeks. That's time where I need to be totally focused on rehab. I'm still debating a gofundme, expect more details soon.

Nestled among the knotted cork trees something older stirs. Before cathedral, before empire, before naming; rising from earth, sun moving through stone, time held in a field. The Almendres Cromlech standing stones remain some of the oldest human testaments I've encountered, touched, and seen. I lead a meditation here with those from the feminist tech+art conference I presented at. "We honor all those who have moved before us, known and unknown, and those we have yet to meet passing through where we once stood."

Going through my archive, I'm saddened to discover my photos from my trip to Portugal are in their majority gone. That trip meant a lot to me. Many of you don't know that I live with daily chronic pain, PTSD, and an anxiety disorder. Organizing the entire trip solo and overcoming every fiber in me telling me to stay, that there was some unseen danger lurking, was no small feat. Overcoming the sharp spikes and radiating pain to keep moving wasn't easy. Let alone going to a strange land to present my artwork and practice to all new faces. But I did it. And saw so much art along the way. Met amazing people. Ate some of the best and freshest vegan food. I want to travel more but I've made a deal with myself if I'm going to somewhere new my art career will somehow be attached to that travel. It's brought me so far to Milwaukee, Evora+Lisbon, and Miami for the art week. More to come.
