I’m grateful to share a practice that has remained mostly unseen until now…
Trip Number 003: ‘Through the Opening’ is a digital showing of original ink illustrations by John H. Dill III. Raw, surreal, and personal, the work traces a visual journey that began quietly and now opens in an intimate gallery setting. This marks the first public glimpse of a larger body of work still unfolding.

2016 is one of those years etched into my soul.
I had surgery on my right eye that changed my life. For the first time, I didn’t have to explain my eye issues unless I wanted to. My “lazy eye” wasn’t so lazy anymore. I could write an article about life before and after.
My ears decided they needed a massive break, so I played Further Future 002 as if it were my last set.
My mom spent her 70th birthday in NYC. Rolling through the city with her and my twin sister was something special.
Being silly at Burning Man. Letting a clown character emerge. I called him Lollipop.
My camera and music took me to unexpected places, and I met people who are still friends today.
Wild looking back through this camera roll.
Thanks to @cthelamb and @anyawhitenyc for capturing a few of these moments and for those of you that are thread through my 2016!

Another year around the sun! Having a twin as always made January 13th extra special. Love you @lesdill13 thank you for being a rock. May we stay forever young in spirit!
Fun fact: Our mother didn’t know she was having twins until the day we were born. We arrived two months early. My sister was delivered first. I was breech, and it took four minutes for the doctors to turn me and get me out. ☺️😘@dill.joy
Current photo by my beautiful partner Iva @nononsense__md . Old photo by our dad Bill Dill - what a character you were…We miss you! Thank you for introducing us both to Bob Dylan growing up.

I’ll miss being on the playa this year, but I’m grateful for this memory. Thank you, @cthelamb , for capturing this beautiful moment while I was DJing on The Bus at the first sunrise last year. It gave me all the feels. Riding my bike freely across the open playa is still one of my favorite things in the world. Wishing everyone a beautiful and safe burn. I can’t wait to hear your stories when you return.
Much love,

🛞🛞 Trip Number 007
Honored to draw on two fresh back tires for the @robotheartfoundation bus as we electrify it with a brand new e-axle. I illustrated sun, flowers, and figures celebrating our environment and each other. It’s part of a larger theme I’ve been weaving across the playa in past years: vignettes inside RVs, on the roof of Shady (above the Tongue), the Helibus, containers, umbrellas, and more. Little offerings to the sunrise, the earth, and the community that keeps showing up! ❤️

It was an honor to share two pieces from my Trip Number series at Sasha Shulgin’s 100th birthday celebration in Denver during PS25.
To bring them into this space and offer them as part of a tribute to Sasha was meaningful beyond words. His legacy as a chemist, explorer, and pioneer continues to shape the way many of us think, feel, and see the world.
Big thanks to the Shulgin Foundation and everyone involved in creating such a powerful night of remembrance and inspiration.
Swipe through for a glimpse into the evening, the artwork, and a little context on who the Shulgins were and what they stood for. ✨✨✨

Trip Number 003 🙏
A few weeks ago, I shared a selection of illustrations for the first time with intention. After seven years of drawing and filling over 27 sketchbooks, it felt awesome to finally open it up and let people in.
A huge thanks to Xposed Gallery for giving me the space to share my vision. And to Olya for all the encouragement and the surprise of my eye print framed (Adriaan too). The video Olya and Santiago created brought it all together in a way that felt heart warming and authentic. I’m deeply grateful.
To everyone who came through, thank you. It was so nice to see friends from all walks of my life. I loved seeing people connect, deep conversations happening, and new bonds being made. Thank you for showing up, asking questions, spending time with the work, and bringing your energy. You helped make the night what it was!!!
Big love to Romain for closing out the evening with his music, Opal for pulling off a last-minute after-party and the post-party cleanup too, Satiago and Alex for capturing through their lenses, Adriaan for the nourishment, Nana for bringing yummy Celeste, Frederick for the bubbles and John for the after venue. And Brandon, Alana and Dave for adding your thoughtful touches. Respect to all the DJs (Illich, Noam and Mikey) who shared music and kept the energy going into the wee hours of the morning.
Iva, my beautiful partner. Thank you for being my sounding board, for holding space through all the waves, and for loving me through it all. Your support means more than I can say.
Lesley, thank you for being there and helping with your hospitality. You’ve been with me since birth, and it meant everything to share this with you.
If something from that night stayed with you - a feeling, an image, a spark to create - follow it. A small creative practice can go a long way. Art heals!
This was just the beginning…
