Numerous conflicts around us and historically - women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, Iran protest for ”Women, Life, Freedom“, China Covid lockdown protest, and the New School administration‘s unfair treatments for Part Time Faculty, etc - let us skeptic about institutions and governments and question what power is, what social connection and its influence in power... We Investigate in centralization and decentralization of power dynamic and the paradox of power. We visualize its crucial part that power is ”distributed through the social networks and lies on empowering others.“ - from the book ”Paradox of Power”

First day of NYC Resistor iShow setup: All of Team Echo jumped into constant adjustments in their work. Our checklist included installation setup, setting up equipment for visual, sound, and spatial interactions, experience layout, and logistics for the best interaction harmony. We wanted the all our sensory interaction design to match with every elements perfectly, creating a cohesive and immersive interaction for the audience. The cubes and ropes were like an unsolvable puzzle: everyone was holding the numerous lines trying to find the right tipping points. Spoiler alert: it was not fun at all 🙂‍↔️ but☝🏼lesson learned: Roy’s idea, coloring.

Second day: We came back with fresh eyes, hoping for a smoother day. The main goal was to hang the cubes. Teamwork was the magic word, making it all possible. It was a new venue for Team Echo, which meant we had to have a plan B for unexpected challenges. @jay__tobin and @interplayer_ thought 3M hooks would do the trick to securely suspend the cubes from the wall. Well, as you can guess (60% sure it wouldn’t work, trust your gut feeling…), the 3M hooks snapped under the weight of the suspended cubes. So, there we were, on a hot day, with an hour and a half delay. But guess what? We managed to pull it off. The exhibition ”Unbound Variable“ invites viewers into a dynamic exploration of the fluid boundaries between technology, nature, and human identity.
