One Thread Collective is a nonprofit social enterprise that empowers Indigenous Wayúu women artisans through social entrepreneurship, community leadership and fair trade. They put the Indigenous artisans they work with at the epicenter of their business model, reinvesting sales profits into the women and their communities. Our latest issue of Communique is live! With the theme “tend”, this edition explores how craft histories are nurtured and carried forward, often across generations. Nantucket basket maker Joan Laib embodies this beautifully. Many of her handwoven baskets are created using molds and tools passed down from her mother, reflecting a lineage of skill and care.

Fresh restock of ceramic earrings from The Artifact House! Nicole Klotz, the artist behind The Artifact House, fell in love with the authenticity of handmade artifacts from ancient cultures through trips to museums like Mingei. She began making jewelry when she wanted a pair of earrings made from her favorite material - clay. Handcrafted in Grand Rapids, Michigan & a perfect Shop Mingei fit. @theartifacthouse @mingeimuseum

Welcome Rachael Pots to Shop Mingei! This Brooklyn ceramics company is owned and operated by native New Yorker, Rachael Scharf. After studying ceramics in Italy, Rachael set up her studio to create a small-scale production line of beautifully made, highly functional pieces. All Rachael Pots ceramics are handmade and thrown on the potters wheel using speckled stoneware clay and food safe colorful glazes. @rachaelpotsceramics @mingeimuseum
