I’m posting this as I head into a week that has me flying to New York for a backers audition of my musical 5 & DIME with @thequeerensemble, then to San Diego for a quick run of MANIFEST PUSSY at @diversionarysd, and finally out to @29queerfilm for the premiere of my short RO & SHIRELLE with @dlocokid (yes we have a full-length feature script, no we don’t have financing yet). I’m broadcasting myself and my message as far and wide as I know how, in all the ways I can and with all the skills my training has brought me.

I’m a badass queen who gets things done, but I’m asking for support. I’m asking for resources. I’m asking for INVESTMENT 💸💸 I want to work until my last breath. I love it. But the uphill hustle, gatekeeping, and scarcity I can do without.

Looking down the table I could see the legacy of leadership, activism, and advocacy I’ve been part of for nearly 30 years. It’s wild to realize I’ve been in the game that long, but even if the youth see me as an elder now, in so many ways I’m still the same person I was at 17 when I first took to the streets to fight for our rights as gender expansive beings.

Connecting with leaders in the movement, meeting trans kids and their supportive parents, sharing stories of resistance and resilience, celebrating our community in spite of the trials we are facing as a people—all of it was as soul filling as the meal we shared together.

We’re still here. We’ve always been here, and we’re not going anywhere.
