#yoursffd honors 10 years of communication, collaboration, and commitment to the people of San Francisco. This is a very quick overview of the PIO unit and its work, history, and tradition.

At 8:36 PM this evening, San Francisco Fire responded to reports of a structure fire on the roof of a building in the 400 block of Green Street. Multiple 911 calls alerted them to the situation. Firefighters arrived quickly observing a three-story multi use residential over commercial structure with active fire on the roof and initiated an aggressive two-line fire attack, using hand lines both inside the building and via ladders to locate the fire in the walls and on the rooftop.

Their swift actions resulted in the fire being extinguished by 8:59 PM, and it was declared under control with no injuries reported. As of this posting, there has been no displacement for either the residential or commercial portions of the building. Support services will be provided to all affected individuals if needed.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental. The San Francisco Fire Department also expressed gratitude to their partners in public safety, including the San Francisco Police Department, for using a drone that provided valuable assistance during this incident.

Behind every 911 call is a team dedicated to giving patients the best possible chance.

Today, at the 2026 San Francisco EMS Awards, we celebrated SFFD members who embody that mission: Raymond Lim, Jeffrey Covitz, Nicholas Koo, Shaun Mills, and Paul Sugiyama. We also honored Deputy Chief Simon Pang (Ret) for his contributions to supporting and managing EMS and Community Paramedicine in San Francisco.

At approximately 1145 The San Francisco Fire Department was dispatched to an incident 501 Tunnel in San Francisco

This is the Recology Recycling center it appears that one of the front loaders went off the edge into the recycling pit with the operator inside

Fire crews arrived on scene and Truck 17 and Rescue 2 developed a plan to extricate the worker while E44 stabilized the patient

At 12::35 a successful rescue was achieved and the victim has been transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries

Celebrating 10 years of EMS-6: a San Francisco Fire Department program dedicated to supporting our city’s most frequent 911 users. Our team meets people wherever they are—on the street, in hospitals, or in the community—to connect them with care, shelter, treatment, and stability. EMS-6 works to break the cycle from street to ER and back, helping our most vulnerable neighbors find a safer path forward.

Today, SFFD and SFPD got to be Honor Guard and see these military veterans from WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam as they fly to Washington DC. Honor Flights mission and goal is to transport veterans to Washington, DC to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices. Helping every single veteran in America, willing and able of getting on a plane or a bus to visit their memorial. #SFFD

San Francisco Fire Dept. Truck 15 Responding to a Fire Alarm in Station 39’s Response Area

Since San Francisco is surrounded by water on 3 sides, today 18 SFFD members (23 last week) were introduced to cold water while wearing wet suits and using fins. This is after they passed an initial certification of 500 Meters in the pool within 12 minutes. Today’s distance was the same and the rescue board, free diving, and rescue scenarios were recreated to help the SFFD better serve the SF community closing visitors and those that enjoy the water. Several instructors have extensive life guard experience and a couple “Big Wave” surfers and military amphibious training. SFFD has over 275 rescue qualified swimmers throughout the department. Those members are required to maintain their certification to work at any of the fire stations that border the water #SFFD
