Set & Scene was created because everyone involved in building worlds rarely get to be in the same place - even though they rely on each other every day.
Whether you’re a prop maker, designer, scenic artist, freelancer, or workshop technician, Set & Scene is a chance to see new tools and technologies up close, learn new ways of making, meet the suppliers behind the materials you use, and connect with people who might become collaborators, friends - or your next colleagues.
If you’re an exhibitor, it’s a space to see what your peers are doing, understand where the industry is heading, test ideas, and meet new talent face to face. Not through CVs or pitches, but through real conversations, demos, and shared interests.
If you’re a buyer, producer, director, theatre owner, or venue operator, Set & Scene brings everyone together in one room. Makers, suppliers, crew, designers - all visible, approachable, and working across disciplines. It’s a rare chance to understand how things are made, who’s making them, and how collaboration can happen more easily.
Set & Scene spans film & TV, theatre and performance, live events, immersive experiences, brand activation, retail display, museums, and themed environments - reflecting how stories move fluidly across platforms and spaces.
We’re really excited to be hosting the inaugural Set & Scene event at UAL Central Saint Martins in Granary Square, King’s Cross. Known globally as a leading institution for art, design, and creative innovation, Central Saint Martins has long been a place where boundaries are pushed and new ideas take shape. It’s a fitting home for a show that celebrates both traditional craft and emerging technology.

We want to thank everyone who supported Set & Scene 2026 on the day, across guest management, room coordination, speaker support, registration, production coordination and overall event delivery. Your professionalism, energy and calmness under pressure made a real difference and helped everything run so smoothly.
At the centre of it all was a core group who shaped the event together from the very beginning: our co-founders Bimla Jackson, Yosien Burke and Murray Ashton, with the support of Hannah Gregory (Exhibition & Production Manager), Kirsten Farley (Speaker Coordinator) and Bonnie Poole (Strategic Marketing & PR Lead) and Olivia Peers (Events Co-ordinator). Together, they formed the engine of Set & Scene, bringing the event to life through shared commitment, problem-solving and a genuine belief in the project.
A special thank you to Aaron Rozanski, the team at Industria Studios, and Ula Blocksage for capturing the event so thoughtfully. The photography and film genuinely reflect the atmosphere of the day - the energy, the detail, and the people who made it what it was.
Thank you as well to Joe Craig and the team at Central Saint Martins for hosting us and supporting the event throughout.
Seeing over 800 people come together for the first Set & Scene was a real moment for all of us. More than anything, it was the conversations, generosity and openness across the day that stayed with us.
Thank you to everyone who helped make Set & Scene 2026 happen. We’re proud of what we built together, and we’re excited for what comes next.

Our friends at @productiondesignerscollective are hosting an upcoming webinar we wanted to share:
Establishing Shots Session II: The Designer’s Toolkit in Action
This panel serves as the “boots-on-the-ground” in-practice follow-up to last month’s agents’ webinar. While the agents shared advice and strategies, the designers will discuss how they actually get it done amidst long shoot days.
Production designers Jamie Laspley, Diana Trujillo, Mara LePere-Schloop, Tracey Collins, and Victor Molero will share practical insight into implementing self-promotion practices while actively working in the industry.
Topics will include:
• Digital promotion
• Project documentation
• Awards strategy
• Self-marketing
🗓 Saturday 16 May
⏰ 3pm ET
A huge thank you to @roscodigitalimaging for their incredible support of Set & Scene 2026.
As a leading global manufacturer of creative solutions - from LED fixtures and backdrops to scenic products, filters and effects - Rosco brought a powerful visual presence to the event.
They sponsored and transformed the LVMH Theatre with a cinematic night cityscape, creating a striking backdrop for a full day of talks, panels and live discussion. In addition, their beautifully crafted rental SoftDrops elevated The Street, enhancing the atmosphere of the exhibition space and demonstrating the impact of scenic detail at scale.
Alongside their installation work, Rosco also had a fantastic stand in partnership with @drsfilmsets, showcasing the materials, techniques and innovation that support production across film, theatre and live events.
A special thank you to Jo Riddell for being part of the day, both on the ground and on stage. Jo joined our panel “Building Wonder: Designing The Magic Faraway Tree”, contributing to a rich and insightful conversation about the artistry, collaboration and problem-solving behind bringing this ambitious world to life.
“Rosco have thoroughly enjoyed working with Yosien & Bimla over the last few months to bring Set & Scene to life. This community focussed event brought so many incredibly talented people together in one space to celebrate all types of scenic craft, it was a pleasure to take part and exhibit alongside other amazing suppliers.” - Jo Riddell
From transforming spaces to sharing knowledge, Rosco’s contribution was felt across every part of the event. Thank you for helping us bring Set & Scene to life. ❤

Despite the sunglasses and the beautiful sunny weather, we were not on the Croisette in Cannes. We were at the fantastic new @setandsceneshow on 25 April talking about a topic we are incredibly passionate about: the circular economy in the creative industries.
Moderated by Production Designer and Circular Economy Champion @blairbarnette Barnette, our panel brought together two husband-and-wife teams dedicated to the circular economy.
Our directors Michaele Apostolides and Michelle French from CAMA sat alongside @browntin and @joko_ono_o from @used.creative for a practical discussion on sharing props, sets, and costumes across screen, stage, and events.
We explored how the traditional build, shoot, dispose model is officially outdated. For physical asset managers and production crews, the end of a production wrap-up is a critical moment. By planning for reuse early and leaning on secure storage and tracking, you can give your materials a valuable second life. It is all about reducing waste while ensuring your IP remains completely protected.
It was a highly rewarding day of sharing ideas and connecting with designers and makers who want to make a real difference.
Thank you @ella_nevill and @Samantha Collins for your incredible support!

A huge thank you to all of our speakers, panellists and moderators who shaped Set & Scene 2026.
Across three dedicated stages, we heard from leading voices in production design, scenic construction, sustainability, emerging technology, craft and immersive storytelling.
Your honesty and generosity made each session feel real, grounded and genuinely inspiring. From deep dives into traditional craft to conversations about AI, sustainability and the future of design, every discussion helped move the conversation forward.
The response spoke for itself - sessions were packed throughout the day, with many attendees telling us they couldn’t get into the rooms or find a seat. We hear you… we’ll need more space next year.
We are especially grateful for how openly you shared real workflows, challenges and ideas. That openness is what makes cross-industry collaboration possible.
Thank you for being part of the first Set & Scene. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Sustainability wasn’t a side conversation at Set & Scene 2026 — it was part of the scene.
Across film, theatre, live events and immersive design, we saw a real shift in how people are thinking about materials, reuse and responsibility. From circular set construction to low-impact scenic solutions, the conversations were practical, honest and focused on real change.
A real highlight was the @jmss_ltd and @macfarlanepkg cardboard build tour, showing how large-scale scenic construction can move towards more circular, reusable systems in practice.
We also saw a brilliant collaboration between @cineco.co and @vectarsetsuk Sets, presenting a side-by-side comparison of traditional set building and engineered paper construction — a powerful example of how innovation and tradition can work together to reduce impact without compromising craft.
In addition, a powerful session from @camaassetstore and @used.creative Creative explored how asset reuse is reshaping production workflows and reducing waste across the industry. @restage_org and AssetFlow discussed cross sector zero waste initiatives and how asset tracking is a crucial element.
The @nationaltheatre Dye Garden interactive demo gave attendees a hands-on look at natural dye processes, connecting sustainability directly with craft, costume and scenic design.
What stood out most was the collaboration. Designers, makers and suppliers came together to share what is actually working on the ground — not theory, but real workflows and real solutions.
This is what a sustainable scene looks like.
Thank you to everyone driving change across the creative industries. This is only the beginning.
