It was never our intention for Serato Control Vinyl to become collectors items, to inspire an obsession, or be sought out for its imperfections, its “Freaks.” That’s something you did, and we wanted to honor that. We’d pressed a full run of a series dedicated to all our Freak-finding enthusiasts. We hoped everyone who wanted one, could have one. But, the Vinyl Gods had other plans. They decided that was way too much heat for one release, and we discovered most of our records had become a little too freaky (warped) to be sold. There are only a few hundred left.

Call it a f*** up, or call it destiny. We didn’t intend for Control Vinyl dedicated to all our collectors to become such a limited, collectors item. But here we are. There aren’t enough units to be sold, so we’re giving them away. First, we want to make sure these Freaks land in the right hands.

Giveaway 1 of 3: (US, UK, Europe, NZ & Aus only) ‘The Collector’ is the first in The Freaks Series we’re letting out into the wild. Every record is unique, every splatter of color is different. No two copies are the same. There are only 75 units of The Collector available and they’re NOT FOR SALE. Anywhere.

“I’ve probably got thousands of crates in there. Is that bad?”

San Francisco Giants Resident DJ, @djumami takes us into her Giants crate and sub-crates, and explains how she organises her playlists to ensure she’s not spending too much time scrolling.
