February at VAPA was a vibe.

In celebration of Black History Month at Ramon C. Cortines Visual & Performing Arts High School, dance faculty member Ernest Felton Baker curated a two-day program on February 5–6, 2026. The event featured a Block Party, panel discussion, and workshops in House, Locking, and DJing, with special guests from LA’s own Scratch DJ Academy and Versa Style Street Dance Company. It was a powerful and memorable experience for our school community. We are grateful to the faculty and staff whose support made this program possible.

As we close out February and continue honoring African American history in this country, we remember the words of the late Rev. Jesse Jackson: “Keep hope alive. Keep hope alive. Keep hope alive.”

On this Friday’s Eve, I wanted to share some flicks from last year’s #InternationalWomensDay event with @scratchdjacademy and @noscrubzworldwide 🥹

These shots were taken by @sixteenflowersnyc but we also had @twobeadsattheend covering the afternoon as well 🫶🏾

I’m real excited to share that we’ll be hosting this event AGAIN this upcoming March, and we’ve tapped some other folk within the music industry and DJ community for this next installment as well 👀

This is for the ladies and them 🙆🏾‍♀️💜 stay tuned for more updates 💐
