Scottish Opera
We’re Scotland’s national opera company, regularly touring Scotland, the UK & internationally.
Are you ready for a bold new era?
Our 64th Season promises six new mainstage productions spanning 300 years of operatic innovation, plus concerts, a new small-scale tour, and more. These works ask urgent questions about identity, freedom, love, betrayal, and what it means to stand up for truth.
Spanning almost 300 years of operatic innovation, this Season is filled with stories of transformation and transcendence, many centred on complex, powerful women, and curated by leading women artists who are shaping opera’s future today.
Whether you’re new to opera or a seasoned fan, there’s something here to challenge, surprise, and treasure.
Opera for now. Opera for what comes next.
And always with guaranteed goosebumps.
'Signore ascolta!' from Puccini's Turandot, performed by Kira Kaplan and The Orchestra of Scottish Opera conducted by Stuart Stratford

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dame Felicity Lott earlier this week. She is remembered not only for her distinguished career as one of the UK's finest singers but also for her great kindness towards all who crossed her path.
At Scottish Opera, Dame Felicity performed two roles that would signal the versatility and breadth of her distinguished career. She sang Marenka in Smetana’s The Bartered Bride (1978), part of a memorable and influential period of Czech opera at Scottish Opera, and Euridice in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice (1979), presented during the Company’s season at Sadler’s Wells, London. From these early beginnings Dame Felicity went on to build a distinguished career on the international stage for her celebrated interpretations of Handel, Mozart, and Strauss, as well as additional 20th-century roles.
She leaves behind a remarkable legacy that continues to inspire performers and audiences alike, and her time with the Company is remembered with fondness. Scottish Opera extends its sincere condolences to her family and friends, and all who knew and admired her work.

Introducing, Puccini’s Turandot. Sumptuous, dangerous and impossible to forget.
World renowned Scottish director Sir David McVicar brings his mastery to Puccini’s final epic opera, Turandot. Brought to you by the creative team behind the award-winning Puccini’s Il trittico, McVicar leads a production that tackles the unnerving darkness at the heart of Puccini’s final piece.
A haunted princess plays with the lives of those bold enough to seek her love using deadly riddles. A visiting prince takes one look and decides all of this is worth risking his life for. This is a deeply moving tale of two lost souls trapped between fear and desire, until compassion and courage change everything.
Charles Edwards’ visual world takes us to the nostalgic dream palaces, steeped in early 20th century nostalgia. Revelling in gothic splendour, this will be a haunting production like no other.
