SCHARAUN
Scharaun Project Space 🪧 🎋 currently Nomadic 🌵 ⛺️ between CDMX & Berlin

Upon entering the foundation @casawabi at Puerto Escondido the collaboration with the late John Giorno and his unique #dialapoem project 👀 caught my eye. With a focus on poets from Mexico, this project which initially started Christmas 🎄 1968 in New York City is yet revived with new technology and spoken word.
The foundation itself which is a great example of how concrete or shall we say, brutalist architecture can expand its origins when contrasted with tropical 🌴 environments and the ocean 🌊 was founded by @studioboscosodi and built by @tadao.ando
It was a great opportunity to be able to visit for the first time with @studio_evaschwab 🙌 after an intense and inspiring two weeks of exhibitions @b_la_m_ at Mexico City.
Also nearby is @casato at Punta Zicatela a new hotel by @ludwiggodefroy : concrete vs nature : circle vs square : tadao ando vs louis kahn : mirror vs stage 🪞 🌱

Finally left Mexico City after two incredible weeks @b_la_m_ arriving in this beautiful and spirited coastal town in Oaxaca.
Some say once you have spent sufficient time in CDMX it follows you wherever you go - like Mexican beach dogs 🐕 🌴;)
In my case it’s the wonderful book 📕 by @i.bonillas made in „Secret“ at #casaluisbarragan picturing voids and empty corners that are not visible to the visiting 👁️ Muchas Gracias 🙌 @stephanieklossowski
It was marvelous to visit Barragán’s house for a second time after my first trip to Mexico City some 20 years ago with @solvejovesen there was so much more to discover 🌸

Reflecting sounds and images back on Mexico City with its vast 22 million inhabitants. A rare moment of tranquility in this cave like cement structure towering 30m above the main North-South highway.
„Las Torres de Satélite fueron creadas por el arquitecto Luis Barragán y el escultor Mathias Goeritz, con la colaboración del pintor Jesús Reyes Ferreira. Este proyecto es una de las primeras esculturas urbanas a gran escala de México“

Happy Halloween 👻 Y‘All ☄️
Visiting the seminal „Torres de Satélite“ by Mathias Göritz (*1915 Danzig/1990 Mexico City) with @stephanieklossowski
The towers unite architecture, sculpture, painting and city planning in a unique way. Overlooking the metropolis of Mexico City on a small island in the midst of the most frequented city highway - we have to thank Ernesto 🙏 who risked his car (and life) to pick us up from the concrete island.

@b_la_m_ El Hub - Calle de Mesones 86, Historic Center of Mexico City 💨💨💨💨💨💨💨🔑🕳️
Exhibition open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 24-26 from 2 to 6 p.m.
@stephanieklossowski “Exquisite Corpse” video 🎞️ 2019 @diemoeglichkeiteinerinsel
#jarostraub “Open/Close (Faust Cabinet)” photography 📸 2025 @scharaun
Stephanie Kloss and Jaro Straub present their artistic explorations based on occult origins, in two adjacent rooms on the first floor of “El Hub” in the historic center of Mexico City. The three-story building with its labyrinthine structure was initially constructed as a luxury apartment building in the 1920s and was then occupied by homeless people in the 1970s.
The video “Exquisite Corpse” by Stephanie Kloss in the gutted room on the right is an exploration of the true story of the “Black Dahlia.” In front of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Millard House in Pasadena, Los Angeles, which is designed like a Mayan tomb, a female dancer interacts with the architecture as if from the beyond.
In the corner room to the left, Jaro Straub displays the photographic work “Open/Close (Faust Cabinet)” which shows a replica of a star-shaped medicine cabinet found in the 19th century in Knittlingen (Germany) birthplace of the alchemist Johann Georg Faust (1480-1540). Jaro Straub, who grew up in the same town, deconstructed a wooden cabinet bearing the initials of his grandfather and rebuilt it as a replica of Faust’s cabinet.

Exhibition open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 24-26 from 2 to 6 p.m.
@stephanieklossowski “Exquisite Corpse” video 🎞️ 2019 @diemoeglichkeiteinerinsel

It’s been a year OFF Instagram for SCHARAUN and I have to say 🙃 that it was quite a relieve 👻
BUT since @scharaun just arrived in Mexico City with @diemoeglichkeiteinerinsel for the second part of @b_la_m_
it would be a pity not to take advantage of the incredible energy of this city and project.
Preparations for Dia de los Muertos ☠️ is in full bloom at Zocalo while the Mexican flag is being pulled down around 6pm every evening. Indigenous protests meet with full force in the historic city center.
