Detroit speaks, and it doesn’t whisper.
Originally released in 2000 as a raw, militant anthem, “I Am From Detroit” by Scan 7(@scanseven) was a sonic declaration of origin, pride, and resistance.
Dre Brownbreathes new life into the track with a remix that stays grounded in its roots while opening it up for a new generation of listeners, Unfortunately Dre Brown is no longer with us.

This remix doesn’t dilute the message, it amplifies it.
With tightened drums, deeper basslines, and a more hypnotic structure, the Dre Brown version makes that iconic vocal “I am from Detroit”feel more like a mantra than a sample. It doesn’t just hit your ears; it sinks into your spine.

🪩 This music is a clear message made not just for the club, but for remembrance, for reclamation, for resistance.

Released as part of the powerful “Hallowed Ground V.A”, this track stands out as one of the most emotionally charged and politically grounded moments on the record.

Subsequently, his music was featured on legendary labels, including Jeff Mills’AXIS. Years later, he returned to Detroit with his first ElectroEP, set to be released on @scanrecords, the new label founded by the legendary musician SCAN 7.
This EP continues his acclaimed Detroit Futurism spirit. With the rise of technology in a new era, new systems provide humanity with more material resources but simultaneously control culture and thought. “Mind Readers” suggests that mobile electronic devices can track human actions and even make judgments before you think. “Sensitive Period” was co-created by Ma Haiping and Shanghai-based Scottish producer @shanghai_ultra in 2022. “No Exposed” reflects the idea that under the control of technology, it is impossible to reveal anything real because reality itself no longer exists.
The entire EP is crafted with classic 808 drum sounds and a funky bassline, paired with cold synthesizers that create a dystopian texture. Like all Electro musicians, Ma Haiping was deeply influenced by Drexciya.”
