‘YALE’ commercial
One of the biggest lessons I learnt came off the back of this shoot, my first TVC. The lesson was… Follow your gut and trust your eye.
A technical error nearly buggered the entire thing. An error I flagged in the day, but allowed myself to be talked out of as being an issue.
A few days later, the producer notifies me that the footage is looking “off”. My gut was right, the settings were off and the footage was naused 🤦🏻♂️ After some serious work in the grade (and butt clenching) it was able to air.
Not only did I feel that I let my close collaborators down, I let myself down by not sticking to my guns and following my gut. An important lesson learnt; surround yourself with people you trust, follow your gut and remember… just because someone says they know best, have worked on a BBC Drama this and ITV that, doesn’t mean they’re not gonna fuck up 😄
