Sam Schofield
I draw for fun and write for the hope of writing for a job

This was my 20th year attending San Diego Comic Con, and I couldn't be happier to have been blessed with so many mind-blowing new experiences during such a momentous milestone year.
I bought an original comic page for the first time, I met two faces on my personal Mount Rushmore of comic book creators (Scott Snyder, Tradd Moore), but my name card from the panel I participated in was probably the best thing I took home with me this weekend.
It was absolutely surreal being on the panel stage for the first time, after attending panels as an audience member for as long as I can remember. It was a dream come true, and I'm itching to keep doing panels in the coming years! Thanks @thejunsangyoo for making Bomb Voyage and letting me help edit for you!
Here's to many more comic cons, and hopefully the first of many more name cards from panels to come!

Spring ‘26 Grad Spotlight - Sam Schofield
Sam Schofield is an LA-born-and-raised writer-director-editor. He’d love to abandon the multi-hyphenate, but calling himself a “professional storyteller,” sounds even tackier, and dropping any of the three disciplines would feel like an incomplete assessment of his abilities. Sam can do it all (except cinematography).
When Sam tells you, “My genres are mainly action, comedy and horror,” at a networking event or something, what he really wants to say is, “Does ‘superhero’ count as a genre?” The answer is yes, and Sam intends to work professionally on superhero-related projects as often and long as he can. His lifelong dream is to spearhead an official Batman project, whether it be in film, comics, or TV.
His writing and storytelling patterns tend to lean toward high-stress situational comedy played seriously, high-octane screaming matches, rhythmic monologues, and big, crazy action on occasion. He’s always desperately trying to keep his work from being boring.
Thus far, he’s written, directed, and edited two short films of his own, edited ten other shorts across all genres, written a spec TV pilot, and is currently writing a spec horror feature based on his latest short: “Hellhound.” He’s also concurrently writing a project outside of film: an upcoming medieval fantasy comic co-written and drawn by the insanely talented @rubendraws42 . Keep an eye out for “Skayl.”
Sam’s hobbies outside of film and comics include watching films and reading comics.
We’re sad to see you go but we’re equally as privileged to welcome you to the ranks of our incredible Alumni. For those of you who want to keep tabs on this budding writer-director-editor, we highly recommend you head over to his page @samnschofield

Completely forgot I actually finished this sketch cover, like, a year ago maybe (maybe longer), and it's just been sitting in one of my comic boxes. Figured I might post it. My friend @rubendraws42 did a sketch cover of the same issue!
