The presence of recession indicators .. are also a renaissance indicator
1. Beautiful boat rides in Venice thanks to Jack and Anna
2. The Serbian curator Predrag Djakovic chose to reflect a shared global experience marked by the collapse of unifying systems of values, as opposed to a specific national context. Bars.
3. A beautiful Attilio Codognato skull ring at the Fondazione Dries Van Noten exhibition entitled “The Only True Protest Is Beauty”.
4. Chinese lino artist with a sheet titled “Western Musicians”
5. A Leandro Erlich Cloud at the Negozio Olivetti store
6. Another section of the Serbian pavillion
7. More jewellery by Codognato.
8. Sandra Adorno’s Fragments of Light - perhaps without the jazzy music in the room, and without the burgundy wallpaper, these photos might have not been elevated to deliver this meditative experience. She questions our definition of photos as being static objects. Lovely stuff.
9. A small segment from a larger Leo Frontini painting.
10. Some sketches in the DreamStream exhibit presented by China.
11. Some cartoon being shown in the French pavillion, i didnt get the context, but i wasnt really looking. I was enamoured by the technicolour.
12. Some beautifully arranged postcards in the Spanish pavillion.
13. A closer look at the same Codognato skull ring.
14. Lore Bert’s neon 369 in a church.
15. alaa idris’s wiswās and their animatronic eyes
16. In the Italian pavilion, a stripped back shelf stole the show for me.
17. Doku AI slop at the Louis Vuitton Espace. Lots of thoughts on this over on my substack.
18. Aygul Sarsen - I love abstract portraits. I love colours. I dont know why I didnt take more photos of her smaller sketches. I was in a daze by the end of the day.
19. Some works by Nabil Nahas repping the homeland 🇱🇧

Culturemaxxing, artspamming.

I’m happy to announce 2 shows I’ll be really looking forward to at @kokoelectronic in March, and at @unumfestival in June
Opening for Shkoon - a groundbreaking electronic act from our region, is a responsibility that I relish. An opportunity arose to open for them a few years ago in Beirut, which eventually fell through, but I know the universe paved the way for this instead. When the holy month of Ramadan is over, their fans around the city will celebrate, and I’ve got a special set in store for it.
Also, a few months from now, in June, I’m going to get to celebrate my 30th birthday at UNUM Festival with friends, artists, creatives and industry peers that I’ve been lucky to meet over the past decade, and who’ve helped me sail through these turbulent but terrific twenties. This will mark my first festival booking as well, another milestone.
I’ve still got the turn of spring to go through, and I’ve never been more excited for the months ahead. So much new music is brewing. A few more intimate gigs here and there, as well.
Hope to see you somewhere soon.. We all really need a dance
