VANITY PROJECT is out now!!! Happy birthday to me!
The cover photo took three tries. The first was with the last few frames in an old disposable camera, and they came out too murky. For the next one, I got a 35mm camera and a roll of CineStill 800T, and I almost liked the way they came out, but I felt like they were too clear and pretty. I looked into what film David Fincher used for Fight Club, got a roll of Kodak Vision3 500T, and got what I was looking for.
Anyway, thanks for listening!

I LIKE TO RUN from VANITY PROJECT
Shout out to Gia, Elliott Smith, and David Foster Wallace
Take me into communion with you
I mean I’d like to have dinner
And talk about our interests
I’d like to look into your eyes
And perceive that they’re looking back into mine
And eventually I might know it to be true
That you look at me just as I look at you
But I only put my faith In my own wrongness
Which is to say l’m running toward redemption
Would you like to run with me
I mean that literally
Running is one of my interests
I like to run
I found a nice arrangement of “Misty” by Erroll Garner from 1954 at a thrift store a couple days ago. I love these chord voicings!
Here’s some of a song called “Willing or Not.” I’m playing a set of songs on piano in Lancaster on Monday!
“The Call of the Canyon,” by Billy Hill, arr. by Leon Block. I first heard this song on @jlage ’s album Squint, and I was pleased to see that it was in a book of guitar music from 1960 that I thrifted a couple years ago but never looked through. Here’s part of the note from the publisher:
“The arrangements in this volume . . . are excellent examples of interesting yet not too difficult writing for the guitar which, in combination with the lyrics of these hit songs, should provide many happy hours of musical relaxation. Leon Block joins with is in hoping this is true in your case.”
I love the warm, glowing notes in old music books and on the backs of old records that sometimes verge on hagiography, because my favorite music really makes me feel like making wild exaggerations about its unique primacy, and I like hearing that kind of excitement from someone else, even if it’s just old-fashioned marketing

Philly Unplugged is a monthly showcase highlighting some of the most talented songwriters and acoustic performers that Philadelphia’s sprawling and diverse music scene has to offer. It’s an opportunity to catch some fresh voices and connect with the music of a city that’s just a skip, hop and a jump away from Lancaster.
This edition will take place on April 13th and feature a bill of piano-based songwriters! (@ryandonlin , @gamine.enigma & @keepsake1million)

The next Floridashow of the season will be on MARCH 28th featuring the talents of @ryandonlin, @danielweaver0, @sierrabwoodruff, & @tyler_davis_music. It’s gonna be a night of great tunes to usher in the springtime. See ya there!
