Second wedding of the year today is a daytime gig in DC.
Got to be solo with the kids for the last 4 days while wifey was away and I left Harrisonburg at 6am for a 2 hr drive as the sun came up. Got to the venue after navigating some road closings and rolled the gear up two different sets of elevators and down some long hallways. Gotta love casters and a good parking spot!
It’s nice to be early. Proper preparation helps the nervous system. Thankful to be sharing some music today. I’ll do a vinyl set during brunch and transition into the rest of the day.
Not sure what else to say.
Oh yeh.

For my last wedding of 2025, cocktail hour extended a bit beyond an hour and I wasn’t mad at all. I got to play more records.
Thanks @adam.fendley @pjaimee6 for the invite. Adam, I’ll let you know if anyone presents me with a better spreadsheet than you did for the reception songs too. I always appreciate when people nerd out on the music selections for their wedding.

Don’t you just hate DJ promo videos where the DJ is just looking at their laptop?
In other news, I didn’t get any 1 star reviews last year!

I’m sure I can find a good connect out here to help further my DJ career.
Maybe a rustic farm-style wedding barn venue. That’d be neat.

What if I told you that all of this fit inside my Toyota Corolla?
probably took these photos last year before a wedding

These are not Virginia wedding DJ promo videos. These are actually just clips from a time where I was testing out a new USB cable to make sure that it worked before going to a gig.

Stepping into gig season again this weekend has me reflecting on 16 years of DJing, probably around 800 gigs or more, pretty much every gig I’ve done between 2011-now, (except like two local spots with their own systems circa 2014-2019) have involved me bringing all the gear, DJ gear, speakers, mics, sometimes two dj setups,,, this is all usually done solo. 2020-now has been pretty much me exclusively doing private events, mostly weddings in Virginia.
From planners connecting me to couples to working with so many different people, vendors, etc. I’m grateful to share music in whatever capacity it may be, wedding reception, or otherwise.
Love y’all. Thanks for the support. Now Booking.
Also thanks @matthewmozingo for truly helping out and supporting me this last year with gigs and beyond. The few gigs we did together reminded me that I’m not at this alone. Also thanks @asap_chirinos for the support, filming, loading gear, traveling with me to Newport.
Alright peace! ❤️

“This is where I run my multi-million dollar business.”
I’ve been lucky enough to create music and explore music in this basement for the last 10 years .
As a small business owner, there is quite a bit of overlap between my personal and my professional life. Maybe one day I’ll have a creative space with a little more natural sunlight, but for now I am happy organizing records in the basement.
I DJ my first wedding of the year tomorrow. I’m also a wedding DJ in Virginia. Now Booking.
“NOT WARMED UP YET!”
This was me warming up with 4 (or 5) records before my last gig of 2025.
I love you all, and I love DJing weddings in Virginia, but DAMN I love these records too. NOW BOOKING.

Reflecting on mid summer evenings where I get to play records outside at beautiful weddings in Virginia.
I had a call yesterday and the bride to be mentioned that she had seen me setting up for this wedding when she was touring the venue.
Still plugging in a few more dates for this year and 2027 contracts are starting to go out.

So hype to hear the good news that @bigfreedia is coming to the valley for @redwingroots in June. I just threw this @thesteelwheels and @bigfreedia mash-up to celebrate.
