This month @runnerup.rooftop there’ll be our usual Chill and Hectic tournaments, but instead of an Open category we’re trying something different with a FLINTA category 👯

We always strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment at ACC, and have created this new tournament category in the hope of increasing accessibility to play! This tournament will be for Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-binary, Trans and A-gender patrons; or FLINTA. Traditionally, Chess has been male-dominated, so creating dedicated spaces for FLINTA players helps more people feel welcome, supported, and confident enough to keep playing and improving.
We want everyone to feel welcome at the board and this is our way of building a more inclusive and reflective chess community 😎
Those entered in the FLINTA tournament are also welcome to enter in the Chill and Hectic tournaments.
Times for each category are:
Chill: 5 minutes
Hectic: 3 minutes +2 seconds
FLINTA: 3 minutes +2 seconds

This collab was a no brainer for us. We’ve been having events at Runner for over a year now, and from the very beginning they have offered us a lot of support and encouragement. It’s also an incredibly sexy venue!

Each month we’ll be rotating through different age groups and demos, starting off with a queer event for lesbians & wlw (ages 25-35).

Starting Thursday, 21st May.
