The Black person, reduced to a Black body, reduced to a Black object, is distilled into its aura; and it is the aura of Blackness that lends material property its value.

In Situ: Silent Gathering by Kwaku Owusu Achim @kwaku_owusu_achim
Set against a deep, nocturnal ground, Kwaku’s figures emerge in burning shades of orange, their bodies glowing against the darkness with an electric intensity. The elongated limbs and repeated gestures create a sense of movement and exchange, as if the figures are caught somewhere between conversation, ritual, and performance.

A beautiful evening in conversation with Keisha Scarville @scarvillek presented by @workofartholdings and @anothertomorrow. Scarville’s practice holds space for memory, loss, and the quiet presence of the body with sensitivity and depth.
Thoughtfully led by Pauline Vermare, the photography curator @brooklynmuseum - the conversation unfolded with generosity, intimacy, and care. Grateful to have witnessed it.
