Just got back from the Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club Open Mic Brunch hosted by the always awesome Hailey Brooks, and it was an absolute blast.

Great comedians, great crowd, and one of my favorite things about the Las Vegas comedy scene — sometimes you don’t even sign up, and somehow you’re still getting thrown on stage 😅

Hailey basically looked at me and said, “Yeah… you’re going up.”

So naturally I responded by telling one of the most unhinged jokes I have involving Beauty & the Beast and snipers.
As one does.

Honestly, had an amazing time. The energy was great, the comics were strong, and it’s always good being around people who love stand-up comedy and aren’t afraid to take risks on stage.

Tonight’s Escape & Defense Class at Pole Fitness Studio focused on two major areas of personal safety and survival:

🔹 Firearm disarms & response scenarios
🔹 Escape techniques from restraints

We discussed what to do when a firearm is presented, understanding different scenarios, movement, control, and realistic options for survival under pressure. We also worked through practical escape techniques involving rope, duct tape, zip ties, and handcuffs — skills designed to help people stay calm, think clearly, and create opportunities to survive dangerous situations.

One of my longest-running students even went through a light stress test and performed an escape blindfolded. At this point, her training and confidence made it look easy. Watching students reach that level of composure and capability is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching this class.

This is about more than techniques.
It’s about awareness, confidence, problem-solving, and refusing to freeze in high-stress situations.

I’m proud of every student that continues to show up and invest in themselves.
