Semi-raw dogging it was ambitious. My longest run in the last 5 months was 11km on the flat.
Listening to mellow soft boi music helped me to pace myself, however it wasn’t soft enough and I went too hard at the start. My knees called it a day and my pace declined.

First drum & percussion session at the new studio.
Recording for the Queen Producer @lloydhinshelwood 🐍
Lots of ideas so I’m keeping each one simple. Focusing on supporting the track and vocalist.
Taking inspo from a number of people;
@si_bonobo - using a door in his car for a snare.
@willcalhoundrum - fill in the missing frequencies, subdivisions and textures.
@lloydhinshelwood - stacking sounds and using found/folly sounds. I won’t reveal his secret sauce on the snare.
@sterloid - doubling up ideas and panning hard either way (no quantising and embracing the little flams).
@finneas - Australian traffic lights for hi-hats
@slipknot - the dude with a baseball bat.
Painfully edited the video on the stair master for two hours. Training for the ultra marathon whilst editing a video that look like a lockdown acapella cover was a great way to spend the bank holiday.

Running away from my problems (in time)

- People who like running/hate running/have a heart and use oxygen.
Running and practicing to a click can be painful and time consuming, but BPM (Beats Per Minute) running can help.
I’m training for an Ultra Marathon on the biggest mountain in Wales. BPM running allows me to work on my stamina, enjoy music, and practice my time feel.
I like to run between 150-180 bpm.
The slower the tempo, the slower I run. For long distance and more chilled runs I tend to run around 150-160bpm.
Jungle is massive for the massive distances (circa 150 bpm).
Drum & Bass for the faster shorter runs (circa 180 bpm).
Like most novice runners, I overstride which increase my impact and risk of injury. To stop this I try running at a faster tempo which leads to faster and smaller steps.
