One of the series that we have been most excited to share with you, is the work we did with the incredible Iranian / Jamaican artist Panteha Abareshi (them/they).

Panteha lives with a rare blood disorder, that causes life long pain and body disabilities than binds them to a wheelchair.

As an artist Panteha use their experience of chronic illness to examine concepts of medical violence, representation and fetishisation of the crip body.

We met and became friends, while they where exhibiting in Copenhagen at @overgaden_and I was shooting their artist portraits.

In one of our later conversations we explored the idea of creating a space to get to know and understand pain on one’s own terms. And ropes as a tool for that, came up.

The next day, we met up with the one Shibari rigger I know and trust to facilitate a space that vulnerable, and complex, -her name is @redlily_dk - and she’s the woman behind @queerknotscph
- and my work-wife @elizabeth__vict9ria__another master in holding tender spaces, to do an explorative session and photo shoot.
What happened was truly magical and healing - I was changed by the love, courage and care in the room that night ❀️.

Panteha then created a written piece. It is beautiful!

β€œThere is no victory to be won over my body’s suffering, there is only exercises in knowing pain in manners that create space for pleasure, peace and intimacy within excruciation that so often only leaves room for uncomplicated, lonely suffering.
There is a radical and necessary resistance and reclamation in allowing the Crip, sick body a full autonomy in it’s navigation of hurt, as I find the most pleasure, the most intimacy behind the heaviest curtains of pain.”

Hi, I just wanna quickly introduce myself, since a lot of new connections has happened lately.
My name is Rita, I’m a photographer based in Cph.

Starting my photography praksis as a teen, I took a 20 year detour as a dj (and a lot of other fun stuff).
I still do a dj gig a month, sometimes two, just because .. <3

I started working with my camera again, a few years back, and since then I have focused most of my energy and attention into this.
Actually being a photographer and being a dj is the same. Or it is for me.
It’s exploring, and channelling attention on to whatever I feel is wholesome, or important.

I love to photograph people. I’m obsessed with community, and with love as an ethic. That is why a lot of my work is centred around elevating community and friendship.

I might be self employed (since always), but I’m very much into creating in collab with others.
So bring me on board your projekts, or I might invite you into mine.

I have a papernote on my desk saying;

β€˜You can’t compete with me, I want you to win too.’

Just to vibe check..

My profile is not always the algorithms favourite pet. A mix of too much nudity and politics.

I’m not actually here trying to β€œbe good”.
Just wouldn’t be able to keep my mouth shut, even if I tried.
And I am furious about a lot of things at the moment. Like lava purring out me eyes, furious, but I’m still cheering for humanity.

This also means, that if you are here for nudes and beauty only, you might find me too opinionated, and move along quickly. That’s totally fine.

I don’t mind crying i public. Actually public display of emotions has become a thing to me..
My friends say I give good hugs. If you need one. Just ask.

Big πŸ’‹

Btw this photo is taken with my favourite camera, the one you see in the mirror. It’s a completely overlooked and underpriced Japanese piece of craftsmanship. Olympus trip 35. It has no electronic parts and it’s super reliable and cute.
Shot on portra400 ( for the nerds..)

Going back to Paris ❀️

This week, I am part of the @art_icon.official exhibition LOVE in Paris.
Very stunned to have work hanging along side the artist on this lineup!! πŸ₯΅

Location; Bastille Design Center,
74 boulevard Richard Lenoir, Paris, France 75011
Opening May 26.th at 19.00 ~ if in Paris, please come join me ❀️

Theme;
Love is one of the most powerful and enduring images in visual culture.
Reproduced across generations, it shapes how we imagine intimacy, desire, connection, and closeness.
Visual artists, and pop culture, is shaping how love is represented, staged, mediated, remembered, idealized, or transformed in contemporary visual culture.

My contribution is a photograph from an evolvingbody of work. inspired by one of my favourite paintresses, surrealist Leonora Carrington’s way of creating worlds where feminine figures and animals coexist in dreamlike realms of transformation and magic.

This work is co-created with friends @florinda_pam and @federica.lazer as a reminder that love is not merely a romantic gesture.
It is a way of carving our existence into the world.
A way of exploring how we allow ourselves to be seen while reclaiming agency over our bodies and desiresβ€” despite societal judgment.

Together, we explore spaces where we can do this safely and in full erotic autonomy.

Shot on 35 mm film, at the historical Copenhagen cinema for film of erotica and curiosa husetsbiograf

I’ve wanted to create this picture for a long time.

Sara Ruddick calls it β€œpreservative love”—the invisible labor of keeping life alive in a world that doesn’t protect the innocent.

We feed, we soothe, we love. We see the faces of all children in the face of our own.

We put on a pantomime, as a shield between a heart wide open, and our painβ€”our rage of carrying the weight of a broken world.

This is for all the mothers, and those mothering, soft, fierce and relentless. Particularly the ones doing it without proper support.

β€œMothers are not passive victims of a violent world; they are active agents who resist violence by preserving, fostering, and socializing life in the face of it.”
β€”Sara Ruddick.

Presenting @nor.karim and @jaalal_ ❀️

Nor and Jalal are both proud trans-men, straight out of the Palestinian diaspora. They both are, and have played, an invaluable role in the Danish queer scene. Jalal generously let us witness his journey of transitioning in the DR documentary Macho, sharing the experience of navigation life as double minority in Denmark. Nor, who won the Human Rights Award 2016 for his relentless work in removing transgender identity as a psychiatric disorder from the list of mental illnesses in DK, is a legend in his own right.

At the Recalibrate party, they will be give us a lesson in Palestinian queer resistance, and teach us how to dabke. See you at @sidstemole may 13th❀️

Abdellah, you leaving was so unexpected! What a sweet and vibrant soul you are ❀️

Second funeral within weeks πŸ’” - first beautiful Leslie Ming and now you, Abdellah wtf..

I feel like we grew into adults together, our crew, sharing sunrises after all night dancing, hangning around Copenhagen summers.

Abdellah, I always admired you - both as a person and as a professional. You inspired me so much in the art of photography.
The way you showed up, the way you saw people - with so much warmth and compassion.
You’d be the first person I’d call when I did a burlesque party or any other kind of event - no one captured a vibe like you.

The way you always made people look so embodied in life, and relation with each other, is a testimony to the care you always brought into your work, and you way of being in the world.

Obviously you are so much more than your work! But all the pictures you created, moments you locked in, they all link me to you, and to memories that we shared ❀️

I have so much love for you, and sending you of today, surrounded by countless friends and chosen family, was an honour.

Feeling abundantly grateful to have known you.
