My normal is not your normal: Beauty routine

I’m so excited to partner with the @reevefoundation to talk about what accessibility in beauty looks like for me!!

Our routines may look different but the goal is always the same - to navigate life in a way that works for us, with accessibility always leading the way.

It’s an honor to be a part of #GenReeveVoices

Welcome to the True Grit Spinal Cord Program at Children’s Specialized Hospital! 💪💙

Created in partnership with the Rutgers School of Health Professions, True Grit SCI was designed to support teens and young adults living with spinal cord injury — and the families beside them — as they navigate the transition into adulthood.

This program bridges the gaps beyond traditional rehabilitation through adaptive day events, a residential summer program on the Rutgers campus, and year-round connection with peer mentors and experienced spinal cord injury therapists. Participants gain real-world skills that promote greater independence at home, in school, and in the community while exploring adaptive sports, recreation, education, and employment opportunities.

True Grit helps participants rediscover confidence, connection, and what’s possible after injury.

Thank you to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation for their continuous support and funding which allows us to provide year-round touchpoint services to our True Grit participants.

For families navigating paralysis, the questions come fast: What happens next? Who can help us? How do we move forward? For more than two decades, people like Donna Lowich have been there to answer them.

In 1985, following what was expected to be routine surgery at 34 years old, Donna woke up unable to move, suddenly living with a spinal cord injury (SCI). “It was very difficult. I was not getting a lot of positive feedback... It was like, ‘Either I do this on my own or nothing is going to happen.’”

Moments like this define the guidance, reassurance, and someone to help navigate next steps that now exist because of the National Paralysis Resource Center and Information Specialists, like Donna.

We’ve shared Donna’s full story on our website, link in bio.

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation was proud to exhibit at the 2026 Congressional Complex Rehab Technology Product Expo on Capitol Hill. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with congressional offices, disability advocates, clinicians, and industry partners to discuss the importance of access to Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) and the real impact these supports have on independence and quality of life.

During the event, we also heard remarks from Congressman John Joyce (R-PA) and Congressman Dan Meuser (R-PA) on the importance of protecting and supporting access to CRT for people with disabilities across the country.

The Expo was hosted by @ncart.us, iNRRTS-International Registry of Rehabilitation Technology Suppliers and U.S. Rehab (VGM & Associates). Thank you to all three organizations for inviting us to participate in this important event.

Throughout the Expo, we shared information about the National Paralysis Resource Center (NPRC) and highlighted the ongoing need to strengthen programs and policies that support people living with paralysis and mobility disabilities. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table and helped make this year’s event such a success.

Strength, love, and resilience—this Mother’s Day, we honor moms like Kristin Beale. 💙

After a life-changing spinal cord injury, Kristin redefined what’s possible—not just for herself, but for her family. Her journey is a powerful reminder that motherhood isn’t defined by circumstances, but by courage, determination, and unwavering love.

Today, we celebrate all mothers in the paralysis community—the ones who lead, adapt, advocate, and inspire every single day.

Today marks one year since my accident in Oslo.
It has now been 365 days without sitting on a horse, and honestly, it feels like losing a part of myself. I miss it every single day.
But today, I have something VERY exciting to share. 💪🏼
On November 1st, I will run the New York City Marathon!!!! 🍎🗽 as part of Team Reeve, raising money for the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and their work supporting people affected by spinal cord injuries and paralysis.
This cause is deeply personal to me, and it would mean the world if you wanted to support my fundraiser. Every donation small or big truly makes a difference.

I promise I will run my heart out. Racing is what I do.

Marissa Bode is an American actress and disability advocate who made history as the first wheelchair user to play Nessarose Thropp in the film adaptations of Wicked.

Ali Stroker made history as the first actor who uses a wheelchair to appear on Broadway (2015, Spring Awakening) and the first to win a Tony Award (2019, Best Featured Actress in a Musical for Oklahoma!). A trailblazer for disability representation, she also was the first in a wheelchair to graduate from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

We had them both at our 2026 Reeve Summit.
