She was a proud Chinese woman who wanted the rest of the Asian community to be treated equally and not as a token or a caricature of their culture. She paved the way for so many Asian actors, entertainers, and for the Asian community as a whole. She is the greatest example of never letting anyone get in the way of what you want and to not let prejudice define you. Even though she never received the Oscar she absolutely deserved, she was recognized with Best Performance twice, was recently given a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and has a statue in Los Angeles commemorating her. Although the statue has recently been destroyed and has not been properly fixed 😡
Her story has been such an inspiration to me. I love getting to perform as her, and I hope she loves it too ❤️ my number is my way to make sure she always gets her Oscar and the roses she absolutely deserved ❤️

Long description of this number. It was kind of symbolic of how I've been feeling. When my grandfather passed away, I felt like a part of me died and I've been in his coffin with him since he left. Sometimes I do feel like there's nothing I wouldn't do to be around him again, to hear him sing show tunes way too loudly at 8am, to have him show me some new weird thing he made with his model trains... I miss him a lot, every single day. But I know that he would want me to keep going, to do the things that I'm passionate about. He always kept every weird sculpture, painting, and whatever I made for him so I know he'd love my drag (probably hate how low my top is and how short my skirt is but whatever lol he'd say "don't tell Gramma" xD)
The 2nd time I did this number as a vampire b/c I do feel like I died a little when he did, so now I have to come back undead to survive ❤️🩶🖤

Sometimes I do feel like there's nothing I wouldn't do to be around him again, to hear him sing show tunes way too loudly at 8am, to have him show me some new weird thing he made with his model trains... I miss him a lot, every single day. But I know that he would want me to keep going, to do the things that I'm passionate about. He always kept every weird sculpture, painting, and whatever I made for him so I know he'd love my drag (probably hate how low my top is and how short my skirt is but whatever lol he'd say "don't tell Gramma" xD)
The 2nd time I did this number as a vampire b/c I do feel like I died a little when he did, so now I have to come back undead to survive ❤️🩶🖤

I've always wanted a giant coffin prop that I could step out of for a performance, but then I thought... Why would I wanna leave the coffin? Lol so I made it into a backpiece, very much inspired by Allan Cummings jacket in Traitors

Long description of this number. It was kind of symbolic of how I've been feeling. When my grandfather passed away, I felt like a part of me died and I've been in his coffin with him since he left. Sometimes I do feel like there's nothing I wouldn't do to be around him again, to hear him sing show tunes way too loudly at 8am, to have him show me some new weird thing he made with his model trains...
