This time last year we were putting the finishing touches on the Gorge Gravel Griper weekend- 2 days of mid-to-back country riding in the Nch’i-Wàna (Columbia River) Basin. Man we had fun. The main ride was Saturday; it was a hot, dusty day, alternating between tree cover and scorching exposure, bench-cut single tracks and winding gravel roads, blasting descents and climbs that would light your socks on fire. Friends, it was the perfect overture to summer. I broke a spoke 4 miles in.
Unfortunately we did not get it together again this year- the winter was challenging for many reasons and I didn’t have the capacity to plan another event on top of the Evergreen Grinder and the Dark Divide. But these weekends are what I live for. I love bringing people together to ride, camp, and eat in community with each other and communion with the land. I will do more in the future, and I hope you’ll still be down. I love my friends, I love my family, I love bikes, and I love the woods

Rolling into 2026 with the Festive 500! Great collab with @rapha_sea to get folks out on this chilly day. Spirits were high, stories shared and lots of delicious pastries/coffee at the clubhouse. Looking forward to what's next and stay tuned for future group rides.

Rapha’s Festive 500 is an annual challenge to ride 500km in the week between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. In true Case of the Mondays fashion, we decided to do the whole thing in one, continuous push: riding from North Bend to the Canadian border and back. Some call it a “brevet.”
Why do we waste our time on these crazy, long things? We get asked some version of that question every time we do something like this. The short answer is because that’s where the growth is. Because it’s fun to be challenged. To be pushed to your limit. To have to solve new problems in new places. To make core memories with friends. Because when you’re out there, moving through space for 8 or 10 or 24 hours, you don’t have the capacity to think about anything other than where you are and what you’re doing. We think that’s a gift.
It took our boys 27 hours to ride 520 kilometers, with temperatures below freezing for most of that. And they had a blast.
So, go do something crazy. Go ride your bike. Time is precious. Waste it wisely.
