Brought some rolls of Super 8 to Sustain last year and the emulsion returned magic. In honor of Year 10 next week, I chopped a little portrait together. ✨

It’s been beautiful to witness the flowering of sound and light that is so uniquely Sustain over the last 9 years and two campgrounds.

Went up in a balloon last year with @fulya_guney and burned some celluloid on some ancient pyramids.

Located outside Mexico City, the pyramids are around 2000 years old and are believed to be celestially aligned. 🪽

𝔗𝔢𝔬𝔱𝔦𝔥𝔲𝔞𝔠𝔞𝔫 is the second film in an ongoing series of Super 8 portraits + travelogues.

This is the first in a series of Super 8 portraits/travelogues to come. ᴅᴀᴛçᴀ was shot last year along the Turkish Mediterranean coast and features the lovely @fulya_guney. 🪷

Unfortunately before the trip I was unable to pick up film and opted to have it shipped from @bhphoto to Türkiye. (Yes. I knew this was a risk. 🤭) And naturally - a few days after arriving - I received an email from @igairport saying my package was “highly suspicious” and would not be shipped out to the coast; I could only retrieve it in person at the airport. (Why rolls of film were so suspicious I will never know. 🤣)

As I wasn’t going to be at the airport until the end of the trip, I decided to single frame the one remaining roll I had. Lolll. That way maybe I could get a few frames of everything as I went along and have the whole experience on one roll.

Everything you see is how it was shot in camera. The “normal” footage at the end was shot before I received the email and was roughly the last minute from a previous roll I had.

Sadly, I was unable to retrieve the film at the airport as it proved to be an hours long adventure across the premises. Also @bhphoto has assured me multiple times that I would be reimbursed for the imprisoned film at @igairport. I have yet to see it. But c’est la vie. At least I got this out of it! Enjoiii! 💫
