🇬🇧 @rainer2g and @evamariazangerle are artists from Vienna who focus on sculpture and objects in their work. They deal with concepts of space and the relationship between form and material. They came to the festival in Mikulov on a special invitation from @viennadesignweek and will present their works in the Stucco Hall as part of the Solitaires category. At the exhibition, they present the object Caterina (I.O.U. <3), which moves on the boundary between a sculpture and a utilitarian object, a figure and a bar. The work includes glass hands that grasp, hold, offer, and ignite. The counter with glass ashtrays looks as if it were cast from a single piece, forming a shimmering vessel for guilt, devotion, and exchange, balancing between a sacred gesture and negotiation.
🗓️ The 14th Křehký Mikulov art design festival takes place May 29–31, 2026, at Mikulov Castle and other locations. For the detailed program and further information, visit krehky.cz.

Helmut Heiss & Rainer Grilberger 9.Mai @zur_legende (‼️ in Dürnstein/Domäne Wachau @popchop.foodculture ‼️)

Rainer Grilberger & Noële Ody – Steffi
Heavy, idiosyncratic, caught between shelf and wall.
Steffi is not merely a book, but a sculpture.
Encased in sheet steel and thermoformed acrylic glass, the artist’s book unfolds as an object that shifts between lying, hanging, and standing. Its point of departure: a steel sphere that sank into Pleschinger Lake near Linz in 2019 and resurfaced a year later – altered, covered in rust, algae, and traces of time.
The publication traces this cycle of creation, disappearance, and return through photographs, video stills, and precise captions. Between painting, relief, and object, Steffi moves across states and contexts – reappearing physically and conceptually.
Published as “KUNSTBÄNDE” Edition Kunstuniversität Linz, Vol. 3, in cooperation with Verlag für moderne Kunst.
An object between documentation and sculpture.
Between materiality and fiction.
Heavy – and fleeting like the surface of water.
