Join us in NYC on 6/5 for an author event on Ru Marshall’s new biography of a pivotal figure in 1960s psychedelic literature, Carlos Castaneda.🌵🐺🦂

American Trickster: The Hidden Lives of Carlos Castaneda: - “A gripping exposé of deception, cult power, and the long shadow of Carlos Castaneda, the man behind the biggest literary hoax of the twentieth century.

Twenty years in the making, American Trickster: The Hidden Lives of Carlos Castaneda unravels the story of the secretive faux-anthropologist who pulled off one of the greatest literary hoaxes in modern history.

Both an investigation of the techniques employed by charismatic narcissists and a study of the cult dynamics that still shape American life, American Trickster defies conventional biography.”

Ru will be in conversation with author John Oakes. Event is in Midtown East at the Blue Building, doors open at 7pm, tix in bio!

Last Friday’s amazing talk with Benjamin De Loenen of ICEERS and Claude Guislain of Instituto Nixiwaka on the upcoming “World Ayahuasca Forurm”. 🐍🐆🌿

We’re very much a “Be Here Now” “In-Person-Moments” and “Direct Experience” focused organization. We’re also a very small team… thus most of our talks and panels go unrecorded.

But sometimes there’s a discussion SO powerful and important that I kick myself afterwards that it wasn’t filmed.

Last Friday’s talk was one such event. The World Ayahuasca Forum is going to be a truly extrodinary endeavor, facilitating cross-cultural dialogue and allyship in a way I’ve never seen anyone attempt before. Feeling so inspired and grateful to Claude and Benjamin for sharing their work with our NYC community. 🙏

We hope to be able to attend ourselves and witness a historical moment. Visit their website for more info and see you in Spain perhaps?

Sometimes we do things a little “up the nose” *cough* SORRY “ON the nose” ON. 😳

Case in point:a public party we threw two years ago titled “Thank You MDMA”, complete with:

1. A Burlesque Dance About Psychedelic Prohibition
2. A paper mache Molly-cule sculpture in a giant metal heart on a base where we painted the word “thank you” in approx. 42 languages
3. An LED model of 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine behind the DJ booth (thanks Joe!)
4. A chemistry themed centerpiece for our snack table, where we offered cartoonishly giant yellow/white rock candy crystals
5. A build your own molecule station led by LT our dear psychedelic research friend at Columbia
6. Presentations by Allyson & Alex Grey, Charley Wininger & Rachel Nuwer

Speaking of “on-the-nose NYC events about empathogens” tomorrow night is our next “Cali Sober” night at @hekatenyc in the LES. And this month’s theme is MDM-May. 2 hours of open, unstructured social time to meet and connect with folks interested in talking about this amazing substance!
