The day I walked red carpet of 76th Cannes film festival, as a costume designer for film “Kennedy” directed by @anuragkashyap10 .

Everyone who knows me knows how much I dreamt of reaching the international stage as costume designer. And now after 12 years and almost more than 15 projects it happened. And the feeling is just unreal.

It made my belief stronger that dreams do come true when you act on it.doesn’t matter how difficult it seems but being patient and keep working towards it is the only way to it. You will fall, you will feel like giving up. That time take a lil break and after that get back to it again and someday that dream will become reality. Like it did for me.

Thank you so much @anuragkashyap10 for believing in me, thank you @sylvesterfonseca , @kazvindangor and everyone from team Kennedy for believing and appreciating the ideas I came up with. I can’t get enough of this collaborative process that we follow.

I also want to thank my dearest costume team members who had my back on every step. I cannot imagine doing this without you guys.

@zuilee08 , @nidhi64 , @akshitajain1307 , @simran_wadhwani and @bhagyesh.k thank you so much for everything. I love you all. ♥️♥️♥️

This film is very close to my heart and I dedicate this to My father. I know wherever you are, you are watching this.

“I love you dad, this one is just for you”

A special thanks to my dearest friend @styledbyabhilasha for styling me for my big night in @armourbespoke ‘s velvet tuxedo. And was assisted by @curatedbynavya

Also, thank you everyone for all the wishes you sent my way. I feel motivated with all your wishes and it drives me to do more and more and more. I will not let you down. Keep watching this space. Im not done, I’ve just began. Will be blowing your minds with every film i get.Thank you all once again.

The film "Kennedy" drew significant inspiration from the renowned Belgian artist René Magritte (1898-1967) in the realm of costume design.

Upon reading the script, I was struck by numerous elements of famous paintings. Although I didn't know the exact names or the artist behind those works at the time, but I’d seen it before.

Driven by curiosity, I delved into research and discovered the artist responsible for those paintings was René Magritte. As I explored his life, body of work, and the underlying concepts behind his art, including the perspectives of critics, I found the language I needed to develop the costumes for the film. I resolved to envision the film through René's unique perspective.

Notably, Magritte often featured himself in his paintings, and this idea resonated with me. I wanted to incorporate René himself into the film, much like his paintings—present, yet elusive. However, I realized that achieving this without it appearing overtly costumed proved challenging, so I abandoned the concept initially.

A few days later, AK approached me with a request to design a mask for Rahul to wear in specific scenes. However, AK emphasized that the mask should possess definition and seamlessly blend with the top half of @itsrahulbhat face. The intention was to create a complete figure on screen, rather than a mere patch of blank mask.

This proposition reignited the idea of incorporating René himself into the film.

The most gratifying aspect was that when I proposed the idea, it was warmly embraced by @anuragkashyap10 , @sylvesterfonseca , @kazvindangor , and the entire Kennedy team. This is the example of the collaborative process that AK often emphasizes, and I find it incredibly fulfilling. The spirit of collaboration is something I cherish and can never get enough of.

Through all this the wardrobe warriors by my side who made sure that every kickass idea turns into a reality - @zuilee08 @nidhi64 @akshitajain1307 @simran_wadhwani @bhagyesh.k @whoisgopika @saqshee @subodhishere can’t thank you enough, you have my heart. ♥️
