Today in things my body teaches me: going slow to prevent injury.

I have a habit of blasting out when I feel good and then either bonking or getting hurt. See: messing up my IT band 7 years ago from going too hard early in the season. I'm still paying for it and probably will have to be mindful of it forever.

I'm really proud of what my body is learning to do and I'm trying to strengthen as much as possible so I can keep doing it.

Needless to say this applies to life in general, another area I need to learn not to sprint but settle in for the long haul.

Posting on main because I'm proud of myself 🤠

This morning I did a 6 mile trail run, which is the farthest I've ever run in my life. I'm two weeks into a 16 week training program on my way to do a trail run half marathon and I keep surprising myself with how strong I feel.

The last two years have been some of the hardest in my life and this challenge feels like the perfect way to move on to the next, hopefully better stage.

We'll see how good I feel after 13.3 miles 🫠

I want to work with you!

My current position is being eliminated at the end of January and I'm looking for full-time (ideally), freelance, and contract work.

Many of you know my work with @variablewest, the online magazine I started in 2020 that publishes fearless, rigorous, and accessible writing on West Coast art.

I've also spent the last two and a half years working as Editor of Content Marketing at Oregonian Media Group, which houses @theoregonian and @hereisoregon. In that role, my team of two and I produced all digital, print, social, and video sponsor content for each brand's B2B, B2C, and nonprofit clients.

Head to the link in my bio to check out my portfolio and please keep me in mind for open positions!

I'm back with a tomato season and garden update, things are looking lush and are always changing

The pond is now full of plants instead of ducks because the local raccoon family kept attacking ours, so now Ceviche (RIP) is immortalized in glass and Stella has retired to a Christmas tree farm to live with a community of duck friends

Even without ducks, the garden is teeming with life and my goal right now is to cultivate a dragonfly habitat, so far there's a very cool red one that visits and perches on the pond plants
