Welcoming Boon Lee to our Asian Heritage Week Naarm line up who will be presenting his ceramic collection, ’Imprint’.
Boon is an emerging artist based in Naarm (Melbourne) that creates with clay. His earliest memories involve seeing his older sister crafting cherished pieces at pottery classes. Being a chaotic child, his mother discouraged him from the fragile medium – unknowingly fuelling a lifelong fascination and yearning for ceramics.
Ceramics has influenced Boon’s mantra on life and manifests itself in both his process and pieces. His practice combines a mixture of wheel throwing and hand building techniques, with a focus on sculptural and ornamental pieces.
Although Boon’s pieces are not considered functional in the traditional sense, he believes the ability that beautiful objects can bring happiness to people in itself is a valuable function.
Boon aims to evoke curiosity and playfulness amongst individuals that interact with his work and invites them to question the fragility and purpose of all that surrounds us.

This June, join us for GROUND AV by Nikita Zabelin.
GROUND sits somewhere between concert, installation and spatial experience.
Through modular synthesis and laser, Nikita Zabelin constructs environments that shift continuously in real time. Layers of sound build and dissolve while laser traces the architecture around the audience, transforming the room into a living composition.
Presented internationally across festivals, galleries and underground spaces, GROUND arrives in Australia this June for 3 intimate performances across Melbourne and Sydney.

From the 20th - 31st of May, drop by Dark Horse Experiment to explore Lucian Rodriguez Lovell’s interactive new media piece: Check Self Out.
Check Self Out is a critical simulation of a supermarket self-checkout that checks you out, while you check yourself out. The project responds to the emergence of dark supermarkets, the creep of militaristic intense surveillance in commercial non-spaces, and questions who these systems privilege. Critically interrogating the relationship between the sensing system and the interacting body, Lucian explores the ways in which we expose ourselves to surveillance technologies with exhibitionist desire, the “lore-ification” of the self. What does my face say about me? How do racial markers show up in machine learning models? How am I flattened into an average, neat, predictable, data doppelgänger?
𖦞.─── ·₊˚ ˖♡۫𓏼˚̣̣̣⟡ৎ ───˖𖦞.
Lucian Rodriguez Lovell is a Filipino-Australian new media artist, game designer, and academic based in Naarm. Working critically with 3D materials, sensors, game worlds, and machine learning, Rodriguez Lovell works with technics in order to hate them better, playfully subverting interfaces as a form of resistance. His work speculatively explores computing futures, virtual bodies, and racial markers in artificial intelligence.

For Asian Heritage Week, Ann & Platform invite guests to join our collaborative weaving project.
Between the 20th - 31st of May, you can select from materials provided or bring along materials that feel connected to your memories, home or heritage. Think, soft plastics, flyers, wrappers, old newspapers, dirty fabrics bigger than A5 to cut and weave into our loom.
Our installation asks you to slow down and enter this history with your own hands. This cloth will accumulate with labour, memory and care throughout this exhibition.

Ann Nguyen departed the tech industry to be closer to craft. Now they work in thread, code and language to explore what we choose to keep, extract and pass down. They live and create on stolen Wurundjeri land.

We’re so excited to be showcasing two of v?’s acrylic paintings for Asian Heritage Week this May.
v?’s work is rooted in the quiet, often unconscious ways we come to understand ourselves and make sense of the world we experience. She’s drawn to the moment before something becomes fully known, like when a feeling, memory, or inner shift begins to take form but still remains fluid and ever evolving. Through intuitive abstraction, she uses colour, movement, and organic composition to create works that feel as though they are emerging and dissolving at once.
Rather than offering a fixed narrative, she sees each painting as an emotional landscape: a space for reflection, softness, and recognition. Her hope is that the work allows viewers to meet something within themselves gently, whether that is a memory, a feeling, or a version of self still becoming.
𖦞.─── ·₊˚ ˖♡۫𓏼˚̣̣̣⟡ৎ ───˖𖦞.
v? is an Indonesian-Vietnamese-Australian artist whose practice explores the fluid, shifting nature of identity through abstraction. With a background in psychology, philosophy, her work is guided by an interest in the unseen forces that shape us - memory, emotion, intuition, and the subconscious. Through layered colour, organic forms, and a sensitivity to composition, v? creates paintings that feel both personal and open-ended. Her work invites viewers into a softer space of reflection, where inner experience can be felt before it is fully understood.

Introducing our next Summer Daze artist: Zoe Pavlou
‘Zoe Pavlou’s Ballistic brings together textile and painted works that trace emotional states across different stages of life. Moving between teenage escapism and the complexities of adulthood and parenthood, the collection explores spirituality, memory and the intensity of feeling that sits between them all.
As part of Summer Daze, the bold colour and expressive energy of these works echo the warmth and vibrancy of the season, drawing those emotions into the shared space.
─── ⋆。°☼°。⋆ ───
Zoe Pavlou is an artist/nurse living in Naarm. At present she is exploring the use of spray paint and textiles. Over the past two years she has participated in many group shows across the city and has held two solo shows. Her works often explore her vibrant inner world.
Zoe enjoys the art of the working class – everyday people’s loves, desires and celebrations. It must be accessible, and it doesn’t necessarily have to have a strong political message. It can bring softness or humour to our often harsh and sterile world.

Yeeesss Lord (2024) — $350
An Environment That Encourages Razzle Dazzle (2025) - $550

Welcoming Sasha Joe to our Asian Heritage Week Naarm/Melbourne line up who is presenting an Artist Book made from acrylic, cotton and ink: ‘Rice, Oil, Soy - and other stories from the cabbage patch’.
Sasha Joe’s ‘Rice, Oil, Soy - and other stories from the cabbage patch’ is a series of recipes, interwoven with stories, memories and Cantonese heritage. Rooted in cooking, growing, and the process of cultivation, this book documents Sasha’s upbringing, her parents’ early lives, and her migrant grandparents’ journeys as fruit shop and market garden owners in New Zealand.
Sasha explores how food bridges the gap between each of these generations and brings families, both biological and chosen, together to eat, gather, and form connections. Ultimately, this book is a celebration of seasonal cooking, found identity, and belonging through the sharing of food.
𖦞.─── ·₊˚ ˖♡۫𓏼˚̣̣̣⟡ৎ ───˖𖦞.
Sasha Joe is a young creative based in Melbourne/Naarm who is particularly interested in the intersection of manual and digital processes. Her works invite tactile interaction, embodying culture, memory, and connection through material storytelling. As she navigates her identity in her twenties, Sasha has begun to grow increasingly motivated to uncover the rich history of her family and learn more about her Cantonese heritage.
