On October 10th, 2020, Kia asked if I’d like to contribute to the Animalia series and today, more than five years later, it finally sees the light of day.

This is one of those mixes I’ve chipped away at slowly and lovingly over the years. A pioneering artist, musician, composer and producer, Nicole’s career spans more than three decades and twelve albums, moving through quirky dance, lo fi electronica and psychedelic folk across a multitude of formats. She is best known as one half of the seminal electro-femme duo B(if)tek alongside Kate Crawford, whose influence on Australian electronic music remains profound. TRANCE/EUPHORIA (presented by Pjenne & Zev Tropp) is an exploration of transcendental states through breath, movement and yoga, this collaborative journey weaves together mantra, meditation and deep listening, drawing from contemporary sonic practices alongside Himalayan Yog Vedantic traditions.

Soundtracked live, the experience unfolds through ambient, leftfield electronica and trance infused textures that mirror the energetic rise and fall of the practice. Grounding yet transportive, this offering invites altered states, collective connection and a deep listening to body, breath and sound.
