Healing is a lifelong journey.

Always a good reminder: something people don't realise about healing from s*xual abuse is that your own body was the crime scene. It's impossible to "get over it" or "forget it happened" when ur living inside the biggest reminder of it.

Everyone has their highs and lows. At the moment i am the best and happiest version of myself… but even after 11 years when it happened to me, I still have bad days - or weeks sometimes. We might not always know what will trigger memories.
Dating or to meet new people outside the comfort zone for a survivor can sometimes be triggering and emotionally exhausting. It is common that it can bring up uncomfortable memories, sensations and emotions.
Communication is key: Help a friend or stranger, LISTEN to someone, you do not know what someone else is going through.
Everybody looks okay until you eventually have a deep conversation with them. And then, you realise that this is a sad generation of people struggling to survive through smiling faces and pretty pictures.

Healing is a lifelong journey.
