Everybody Records presents Basement Boogie

We’re super excited to be welcoming a whole host of dj’s to the Beehive basement in Shipley on Saturday 18th April.

Zoe Tawil
Growing up in North Wales, Zoe was surrounded by a family of passionate DJs. Engulfed by house, electro, techno and minimal she began learning how to DJ at an early age, gradually refining her taste over time, carving out her own identity. She’s mainly drawn to deep house and techno and expressing the elegance of the genre through dark and light elements is a love of Zoe’s, bringing variation to her mixes. Her close-out set is not to be missed!

Tim Tan Underwood
Tim’s djing career started in the 90s, and since the era of Brit pop, he’s played at festivals such as Beat-Herder and Solfest. His style of music, in summary, is records you can dance to… wow – what a dream! Tim runs his own night called Haven. Expect Balearic, nu-disco and spacey beats to make you wiggle!

Serena Scarborough
Her journey into DJing began in 2022, when she attended an event where Tim was playing. After his set, a conversation took place where Serena expressed her interest in getting behind the decks. Encouraged by Tim to reach out to Andy Plews for lessons, Serena took the leap — and the rest is history. She’ll be spinning bouncy tech house at the Beehive and we really can’t wait!

Wave Audio
Wave Audio see’s Bradford’s Josh Wave shelving the high-BPM habits and leaning into deeper, lofi territory. Stripped-back drums, warm low-end and groove over flash. A different tempo, same drive. Check out Wave’s upcoming event at The Mill for more of a heavy rave-up!

Jimmy up the Road
Jimmy Up The Road has spent decades digging for vinyl and pulling sounds from all over. Every genre has something, a rhythm, a hook, or even just an obscure interesting sound and that’s what he listens for. He’ll be taking a house stance at the Beehive so get down early.

Everybody DJ’s C.J Collier and Phil North will be on warmup duties as per!

So excited for our next night at the Beehive in Shipley next Friday (Friday 5th Sept)!!! Live band action to kick things off at 7pm, then deep into the undergrowth with disco, house, acid and techno. Tickets are flying out 😍

Bio: Rhythmic Movement

Collier and Phil both started their musical journeys playing in “mosher” bands in their teens. They transitioned onto dance music through the cross-over electro scene of the late 00s/early 10s.

Their most recent collaboration, Everybody Records, was born from the vision of record shop, but due to the current climate, has moved towards events and reviews. Their passion for all-things music is one of the reasons Everybody Records started augmenting disco-dancing affairs at the Beehive. Between them they listen to the most eclectic breadth of music, but house with a disco tinge is what this project is all about!

Rhythmic Movement’s first-ever set as a duo is fast approaching, so dig out the boogie shoes and get on down to the Beehive on Friday 5 September.

Now then! We have a couple of things to tell you.

Firstly, we want to talk about the Beehive. We’ve lived in Saltaire/Shipley for 10 years now and the Beehive has taken many forms over the last decade. Their basement was always used for events but they were few and far between. In recent years, this place has been transformed (huge credit to the current owners). There’s a stunning traditional pub on the ground floor serving real ale (no Carling or TVs here!), a huge beer garden and, last but not least, a basement events space downstairs. This area has three intimate rooms – the DJ/band room, a chilled seating room and of course, a bar. Access to the main pub from the events space is out the side door, up the path and back in the pub’s front entrance (for those wanting a larger selection of bevs!)

Our previous Beehive nights with James Welsh and Chris Massey have exceeded expectations and the crowds have been a dream (thanks everyone for making them so special!).

If you haven’t already heard (😀) we’re putting on a night at the Beehive on Friday 5th of September. The main pub opens at lunchtime for you thirsty lot, and our event starts at 7pm. We’re kicking off with a live four-piece band, Electric Isles, with a female vocalist playing original material (think Maribou State/Little Dragon vibes), and then DJs will run the night playing disco, disco/house, house, acid.

OBVIOUSLY, Gina Breeze is our top-bill artist – her recent sets at Amnesia, Love International, and WHP have been mesmerising!

Tickets are on Resident Advisor. It’s only a 120 capacity venue and the tickets are selling fast. So, if you’re coming, head to RA sharpish!
