Just over a year ago, I met a somewhat strange, dishevelled but delightful old gentleman of South in a clients front garden. We got aquatinted over a Victorian plaster renovation I was undertaking at the time. The following day he poked his head through the door and asked me if I could put this special jester’s fez on so he could take my picture. Slightly bemused but curious, I agreed. With 1 snap he thanked me graciously, grabbed the fez, gave a rolling bow and shot off, never to be seen again. I wondered about him sometimes.
Almost exactly a year later I bumped into him returning to the job on the street, he remembered me by name and returned the following day with this incredibile, 1-of-a-kind print that he’d used in his photographic exhibitions about strangers wearing this particular Fez throughout the years from across the world. I felt privileged to become unknowingly apart this life-long endeavour of his without realising until now and somewhat speechless, thanked him for this random but excellently delivered photograph, which he re-dated and signed upon his presentation to me, before shooting off once again into the wilderness. Thank you so much Phil, wherever and whoever you are. I hope to meet again.🤷‍♂️

Very rarely do I take or post self-portraits/selfies but today I’m thoughtful, grateful and blessed to have achieved 500 days fully clean & sober. So this is me tonight.

I struggled look at myself in the mirror for years, or look directly into people’s eyes when I was with them. Tonight I have serenity, a new found freedom I never thought possible, comfortable in my own skin and the actual ability to help and identify with others who have or are currently going through similar predicaments; to be present and available for my fellows, friends and family. Magical things gifted by a power greater than ourselves that I know, with humility and vigilance, can continue to prosper and flourish, one day at a time.

The first paint of my 4th decade on this planet yesterday and genuinely honoured (and unqualified) to jam alongside 2 true legends of the game @tizerid and @dice.london in Waterloo. Felt like a prize exhibit at some kind of Graff Zoo when I turned round and saw a hundred French kids from a school watching me paint seemingly loving it and erupting in applause.
