What do fried chicken, dating, and baby goats have in common? Chef Eric of Pecking House has answers.
In our new series “At the Table,” matchmaker Cassindy Chao sits down with AAPI chefs to talk food, culture, and connection – because how you eat says a lot about how you love. First up: NYC. Drop a 🐐 in the comments if you’d swipe right on a baby goat.

Chili Fried Chicken. @minhwaspirits.jumak One Night Only. 🍗🔥
Eric Huang (Eleven Madison Park Alum) @pecking_house is popping up on May 17th
The legendary chili fried chicken is finally hitting Atlanta. No reservations. No excuses. Come hungry and get here early. When it’s gone, it’s gone.

📍Pecking House - Chinatown, Manhattan
This little unassuming shop in the southern part of Chinatown has intense flavors on their menu and there seems to always be a line out the door. There were only 4 tables inside, so keep that in mind if you check this place out! We took our food to a nearby park and ate there!
We tried:
▫️Chinatown Sandwich
-Fried chicken thigh, pork floss, tomato, pickle
▫️Salted Egg Fried Chicken
-Leg quarters breaded and fried, then coated in salted egg
I always love a salted egg moment, and that’s really what got my attention with this restaurant. Overall, I thought both items were fried super well. The crisp on the chicken skin was perfect and I absolutely loved pork floss on the sandwich😮💨
I do wish the salted egg flavor came through more. You definitely taste it, but I feel like the flavor didn’t really go beyond the skin. Meat was cooked really well and was super juicy, but there was no flavor of salted egg once you peeled back the layers.
I would def come back to try some other menu items (the Spice Bag sounded super interesting. Chicken nuggies, curry sauce, peppers, and onions!!)
Overall a solid place for fried chicken with a twist on hot/spicy, Chinese flavors🔥

COMBO BOX?! Don’t mind if we do. Starting tomorrow (April 29), the answer to your “can I get fries with that?” question is YES. Yes indeed, you can: Add $4 to your wings or tenders order and get fries, flavors, goodness ALL TOGETHER. We need more of that in this world. Anyway, see you tomorrow. 🍗🍟🫡
Pecking House tenders so good they might actually start a fight between @maxhoffmann and @thenewyorkcitybroker over who gets first dibs.
The crunch? Unreal. The spice? Just enough to make you pause for a second like, “okay… what just happened,” and then immediately go back in for another bite. When something tastes even better than it looks, you know you’re in dangerous territory.
And let’s be honest, there’s no such thing as just one tender. They’re already elite on their own, but the second you dip into that honey mustard? It’s over.
No sharing, no negotiations, just survival of the fastest.
Consider this your warning. @pecking_house
