HNY friends!
I’m celebrating 5 years free of alcohol today and it feels pretty, pretty, good.
If you don’t need to make a change then all good but if you get that nagging feeling that alcohol is no longer serving you then now can be a good time to take a break or even stop altogether. It might be easier than you think.
Whatever you choose to do I wish you good health and peace of mind for the year ahead x

Nothing worse than watching yourself on camera but needs must when you’ve got a @discopogo.co x @buggedoutclub book to promote with @johnnoburgess.

We did a book about @buggedoutclub - the club we started 30 years ago.
Edited by @johnnoburgess it tells the story of 600 capacity parties at Sankeys in Manchester to 12,500 mega raves 30 years later.
The successes and the failures.
Full of photos and flyers but also with huge oral histories with interviews with the key peopleinvolved in the club over the years - it’s been a labour of love for all involved.
As much as I love the Tony Wilson quote my favourites are from my old flatmate @absolutebegin “We didn’t need to sleep much back then” (definitely less than 8 hours a night) and the one from our old friend and door-person Fiona Botham:
“Bugged Out quickly became my family”.
Mine too Fiona. You can’t bring those times back but you can immerse yourself in the book and remember what a blast it all was.
Viva acid house 🙂

Despite many hours battling the far right traffic on Saturday, I had a great time at our Disco Pogo x Balearic Burger all dayer - helming the stall (with my daughter Esme), hanging out with friends, grabbing some nice food, chatting to subscribers and supporters, meeting some new people and soaking up great music from all the DJs 🪩
Thanks to everyone who DJed, danced or bought some merch 🙏
Looking forward to the next one! 🙌

🚨New podcast alert! 🚨 As today is officially the start of @letourdefrance it seems apt to release the latest episode of the Focused Mind podcast (link in bio) with @paulbenney - a keen cyclist and cycling fan.
Paul is a journalist, editor, promoter, manager, record label founder, publisher and distributor in the industry. If you’re into electronic music, you’ll know his work as a co-founder of seminal 90s magazine Jockey Slut (& subsequently @discopogo.co ) and its associated club night, Bugged Out!, which began in Manchester 30 years ago. Since then, Bugged Out! has held residencies in Liverpool, London and now hosts a weekender event, next taking place in March 2026 in beautiful Bognor. Most recently, Bugged Out! curated a day celebrating its 30th anniversary at the Stonebridge tent at Glastonbury Festival.
This is the second in a mini series looking at how people across different roles in the music industry look after their mental health and overall wellbeing and pass their experience and wisdom on to younger folk in similar roles. Check out my first interview with A&R Manager @nick_huggett (the man who found @adele & @dizzeerascal ) - thanks Paul for your time and insights. :-)

Glastonbury was scorchio but beautiful and brilliant of course with Neil Young probably my favourite thing plus highlights including Ezra Collective, Jalen Ngonda, Skepta, Nile Rodgers, Kneecap, John Glacier and enjoyed checking out my daughters’ favourite artists like Gracie Abrams and Faye Webster who seemed like good strong young ambitious women committed to their craft.
Gutted to miss Charli and Pulp but you can’t see everything and will catch up on the telly. Would also have liked to have checked out Floating Points Sunflower Sound System but was impossible to fit in.
And was great to celebrate 30 years of Bugged Out at Stonebridge with DJs including Luke Una, Erol and Tom Chemical and loads of old friends and faces winding back the clock a bit (a lot).
Keep on rockin’ in the free world 🌍

Had a great day at Forever Now festival with @johnnoburgess in Milton Keynes at the weekend.
Didn’t see as much of PiL or Happy Mondays as we would have liked (for various reasons) but enjoyed Billy Idol (fully committed to the cause), The The (Matt Johnson has a very dry sense of humour) and Johnny Marr (hearing him playing Smiths songs was very special).
But for me Kraftwerk stole the show with timeless music, amazing sound (so loud) and great visuals.
Added bonus was that I only had a 30 minute walk back to my parents’ house afterwards.
Big thanks to @nicolerebeiro for the tickets with the great view 🙏

Big thanks to @nicolerebeiro for the tickets with the great view 🙏
