The proposed #fy27budget includes changes to key housing programs, including fewer vouchers and shifts to rental assistance like ERAP. These programs are essential to helping people stay housed and move into stable housing.

Our team is actively engaged in the budget process to ensure the needs of our community remain part of the conversation.

As DC reviews the Mayor’s proposed #FY27budget, our Vice President of Housing First, Will Doyle, spoke before the DC Council to ensure our community’s needs are heard.

The proposed budget includes difficult tradeoffs and cuts across key programs, including housing and behavioral health services. As the budget moves through the Council’s review and revision process, we remain committed to advocating for the resources our community needs and ensuring that the voices of those most impacted are part of the conversation.

Pathways to Housing DC is proud to partner with faith communities across DC, including through the Downtown Day Services Center, to support neighbors experiencing homelessness with care and dignity.

This recent gathering of faith leaders highlighted the powerful role faith communities continue to play; from providing essential resources and safe spaces to helping create pathways to housing.

Together, this work shows what’s possible when faith and action come together. Because ending homelessness takes all of us.

As we near the end of March, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate our incredible social workers at Pathways to Housing DC

You show up in moments that require patience, trust, and deep compassion—walking alongside our neighbors through some of their most challenging times. You help create space for healing, advocate when it matters most, and remind people that stability and home are possible.

This work isn’t easy, but you do it with care, consistency, and heart.

Happy Social Worker Appreciation Month and thank you for all that you bring to this work and to our community. 💙

We know what works to end homelessness. Now we must invest in it. As DC prepares its FY27 budget, community leaders are urging continued investment in proven solutions that keep residents housed and prevent homelessness:

• Expand Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) for individuals and families
• Fully fund the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) to prevent evictions
• Invest in prevention programs like Project Reconnect
• Strengthen street outreach services for our unsheltered neighbors
• Increase funding for affordable housing and rental support programs

These investments reduce long-term costs across healthcare, emergency services, and public systems.

Housing is a solution that works. Let’s continue moving forward.

Yesterday, Pathways to Housing DC’s Montgomery County team joined advocates and community members in Annapolis for the Keep the Door Open Rally, calling on lawmakers to fully fund critical mental health and substance use services across Maryland.
