PART Residency
International Art Residency Austria, fostering artistic experimentation & collaboration, in Vienna. A programme on behalf of @kunstkulturministerium ๐

// A Science of Singularity in the Age of Light โ Public Colloquium // 26.โ29.05.2026
We are delighted to announce a new collaboration between the Artistic Research PhD in Art programme at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and PART International Art Residency Austria.
From May 26โ29 Public Colloquium 2026 unfolds as a four-day open seminar at THE HALL โ bringing together artistic researchers and audiences in a shared space of inquiry and exchange.
The colloquium will feature presentations by 15 doctoral candidates from the PhD in Art programme, each offering insight into their ongoing artistic research. Their presentations will be followed by public conversations, feedback sessions, and critical reflections with four invited guest critics.
Across these four days, THE HALL becomes a site of dialogue, where practices are tested, ideas are challenged, and new perspectives emerge. The event invites audiences to engage directly with current artistic research and to take part in its unfolding. All the programmes will be documented by reportage drawing and photography.

Studio Intakes ๐ฟ A glimpse into the studio of our current resident @NjolaImpressions (UG) in cooperation with @WeltmuseumWien ๐
Nabukenya Allen, aka Njola and founder of Njola Impressions, is a Ugandan multidisciplinary artist. Her practice transforms discarded materials, including plastic, flip flops, and tyres, into artworks, fashion, and installation. Through recycling and community engagement, her work explores sustainability, creativity, and the power of art to turn waste into opportunity.โ
During her residency at PART, the artist will be working on her upcoming exhibition at the Theseustempel (Weltmuseum Wien) in Vienna, opening on May 28, 2026. She will also deepen exploration and experimentation within her practice of transforming discarded materials into artworks. Rather than arriving with a fixed outcome, she wants to first experience the environment, materials, and artistic context of Vienna, allowing these encounters to guide the direction of her work and open new possibilities for her practice.

ยปA pause, an exchange, a place to reflect. To take part means to immerse yourself in an environment unlike your own, to share stories and space together during a period in which your own movements shift. Taking part means being open to altered routines, embracing new paths and connections to fuel creative practice. For me, being here means a change in pace, a pause to known schedules and a familiar rush of the everyday. To slow down to collect and observe new details.ยซ โ KATE WALLACE, current residents at PART
๐ฟ Under the theme What does it mean to take PART?, we invite our residents to reflect on participation, process, and presence within the context of the residency.
