Maya’s words: “I was confused, but I held on to the only thing I have ever truly believed in - Kindness. In many instances it was not returned to me. That was ok. I knew that if I rejected hate and made an effort to understand where it was coming from, I could make a change in those peoples lives the way I made a change in my own... Living with love, intention, gratitude 🦋” Maya, my love bug, I see your green-hazel eyes in the flickering aspen groves of Autumn, holding me unconditionally, and your rosebud cheeks lifted by your smile in the pink-orange clouds that whisper along the feathered wings of a new adventure, and softy I hear you sing: good morning my love. Fruiting mushrooms dance among the damp soils your curiosity craves, and the smell of rain loving earth pushes me to the ground as my tears run to all life that your heart is open to... There was never a day you didn’t nurture me or remind me how much you love me, and now I see the deepest lesson of our journey together, that love is the most important thing in our lives, and there are infinite ways of expressing this love to the world. I love you so much Maya, you have been the most inspiring human in my life, and I will always be striving to love the world as you did, to dream a vision and make it real as you did. And I know deeplyin my heart that you were in love with it all on September 13, poking each puffball beneath your feet, skipping among the chirping marmots and twirling between the wind blown yarrow, and climbing free of all that has ever weighed you down. We love you Maya, guide us onward... 💚🐝 @mayahumeau

Check out the full story. Link in bio. So impressed by the loving people out there. 🇨🇱 Excerpt from The Col:
I am realizing that being in Cochamó has little to do with climbing specific routes and mostly to do with the joy of spontaneity in a magical place. I am in awe of this far out setting and so inspired by its landscape. Moments of clarity, along with the flow of taking it easy, culminate in a life experience that I am fully at peace with. These moments are spontaneously forged from a love for adventure. It all makes sense when it makes sense, but all the other moments, most of the moments, are filled with questions. Cochamó has been sporadically laced with moments that make sense, which lets me know I am in the right place for me. Leaving feels natural at this point. My expectations were unknown thus they filled beyond what I could have imagined.

“In us there is a river of feelings, in which every drop of water is a different feeling, and each feeling relies on all others for its existence.” Thích Nhất Hạnh
To sit on the riverbank of these feelings and observe is the gateway to awareness. To grasp jealousy and pain as I would love and compassion and release each feeling back into the spirals of life. To feel and breathe with these feelings, to give them attention. To recognize that peace is always within us and outside of us no matter what our ego convinces our self to believe and vibrates us to feel. We run and we run, so distracted by our feelings and perceptions that stopping and observing can seem futile. To stop and perceive breath resonates in my chest with rhythms of appreciation and understanding that life is simple. That life goes on with or without me and it’s up to me to be present, to be grateful. To smile into the eyes of the sky and absorb sunshine reflecting off the leaves of trees that give me breath.
I’m off to Cochamó with my best friend Vinny for now. 😇🤙

Alarm goes off, 4:30am, ahh do I really want to get up? Well I bet Jessie and Molly are up so that means I have to get up, can’t leave em hanging out there ——- Friends holding us accountable for adventure😇🔨, get off your ass and go! Early morning sunrise at Great Head a couple weeks ago. Pulled the rope on Corsair and put it down. The morning mist still caked the surface making me question my choices to be there. As I pulled through the crux, as if on cue, the brilliant sunshine broke through with magical rays of goodness.

North Conway always provides. Mandrew Hawley coming through to remind us he still thinks of the east coast. (We haven’t lost him completely) Life is a hoot, especially with this wildebeest. Darn tootin n howlin.

Howling at the moon as it rises beyond Frenchman’s Bay horizon. It’s reflection shimmers solid pink and gold on the deep midnight blue below, ahhhhhuuuuuu.

I finally put down Maniacal Depression yesterday, a route that has eluded me each season I’ve lived in Acadia. For whatever reason I could never get it clean, so close each time. Funny how the mental game can make or break. Steep slab with a thin crack through a bulge and a butt puckering finish on one of the steeper faces at the Swall. Calm like a bomb this time around. Thanks for the belay @jessiejbriggs. 📷 by @splitterday a couple of seasons ago.

Shoutout to this motivated carrot-cake-eatin strong-armed meat piston stallion. We stormed the Precipice’s ledges with shenanigans and brought the noize for the first ledge party of the year. Thanks for showing up y’all, till next time... happy birthday @jessiejbriggs
