An update on the Outer Waves 2026 lineup.
Unfortunately HHY & the Kampala Unit have had to withdraw from this year’s festival. We hope to welcome them to Liverpool in the future.
We’re really pleased to announce that Mohammad Syfkhan will now be closing the mainstage on Saturday evening. A Kurdish-Syrian bouzouki player and vocalist whose ecstatic music draws from across the Middle East and North Africa — he has shared bills with Lankum, appeared at End of the Road and Venice Biennale, and puts on a live show that will get the whole room moving. A worthy closer and we cannot wait.
See you this weekend. 🌊

Two conversations across the weekend you won’t want to miss.

Rising costs, disappearing venues, and a changing scene. As grassroots music spaces across the UK continue to close, what does this mean for the future of live music and underground culture?

Lisa Meyer (Supersonic Fest) · Rivca Burns (Sounds From The Other City / Factory International) · Philip Morris (Musicians Union) · Joel Murray (Outer Waves Festival) + more
📸 @oscillik
—
Sunday 12:15
IN CONVERSATION WITH KEELEY FORSYTH
Cultural curator and Resonance FM resident Nina Kehagia (@ninakeh) sits down with Keeley Forsyth to discuss her career, her creative process, and the making of Hand To Mouth To — her newly commissioned live work at Outer Waves 2026.
—
Both panels are free to festival ticket holders. 23 & 24 May · Invisible Wind Factory & Make CIC, Liverpool’s North Docks.

ARTIST WORKSHOPS — Sunday 24 May
Before Dali De Saint Paul and Mariam Rezaei close the Kapsule stage together on Sunday, they’re each leading a workshop earlier in the day. Spaces are limited — get down early.
—
12:45–14:00
Vocal Workshop with Dali De Saint Paul
An introductory workshop exploring the voice as a musical, communal, and political instrument. Expect improvisation techniques, listening exercises, and a look at the history of experimental sound — and how multiple voices can interact in the context of improvisation. Dali is a prolific collaborator and a central figure in Bristol’s improvised music scene, completely self-taught, whose project EP/64 spanned more than 40 musicians across 64 concerts over six years.
—
14:45–15:45
Experimental Turntablism with Mariam Rezaei
Mariam Rezaei is a multi-award-winning composer, turntablist and performer working across experimental new music, free improvisation, mutant club music and hip-hop. Described by The Wire as one of the most technically adept and creatively daring artists to use the turntable as a musical instrument, this workshop offers a rare chance to learn from a true pioneer of the form.
—
Both workshops are free to festival ticket holders, taking place at Kapsule. Spaces are limited — first come, first served.

Hello!
Here is a new poster design for the mesmerising @haressband for their performance next Saturday at @outerwavesfestival ❤️🔥
I've been busy curating and screen printing posters by a bunch of super talented Liverpool based artists all week (and next), go have a look on @crookedneckprint to see those.
Really excited for all the shows at the festival next weekend, I'll be installing a poster exhibition and also a collage zone for folks to chill out, draw and have a play with paper and glue. 🥳

Shining a light on three Liverpool artists joining us this year 🌊 (1/3)
veve, a Lesser Version, and Jonah Wardle are all on the bill for Outer Waves 2026 — and we couldn’t be prouder to have them. Platforming local talent alongside our international lineup is at the heart of what we do, and this lot are very much the real deal.
@blueberrygardenx
veve is a singer, songwriter, multi- instrumentalist, composer, and producer based in Liverpool who blends the likes of indie, dance, dreampop and electronic elements together to create a distinctive sound. She recently self released her debut album Meraki, recorded, performed and produced entirely from her bedroom.
@alesserversion
a Lesser Version is an artist called Liam Evans that plays and releases music with a band that is also called a Lesser Version.
Described by The Quietus as ‘purveyors of fractured and emotive DIY indie rock’, a Lesser Version crafts songs that are heartfelt and homemade whilst existing in a post-internet, post-genre universe that they have created for themselves, stretching from shoegaze to folk via emo and electronica.
@jonah_wardle
Jonah Wardle is a composer, sound artist, and producer. Alongside creating electronic music under the alias Machine Hire, he develops work under his own name that focuses on conceptual, sound art-driven pieces. His practice centres on sampling and audio manipulation, using unconventional sound sources to create visceral and immersive listening experiences.
His most recent project, STRIP - A Sonic Self-Portrait, is a composition made entirely from recordings of his own body, exploring anatomy as both subject and instrument.
