My birthday is Friday and I feel weird celebrating as my relatives experience a type of fear I can’t even imagine. It’s impossible not to feel kind of helpless living on this side of the world. But I’m finding a lot of comfort in these photos, watching my favorite Iranian films, and visiting my favorite Persian restaurants in LA when I can.
