We come together not because we’re perfect but because we feel. Krump lives in the raw, the unpolished, the moments that don’t make sense to anyone else but mean everything to us. What looks like chaos to some is connection to us soul speaking to soul, heart answering heart.

This dance, with all its imperfections, is where we find something real. Something honest. Something ours. To many, it’s just movement… but to us, it’s one of the most valuable gifts this earth ever gave a place to be seen, to release, to belong.

There’s nothing like pouring your heart into what you love and getting to call it your life. I’m deeply grateful for this journey, every step of it.

My first theater dance project at Theater Oberhausen was back in 2010. Thirteen years later, in 2023, I stepped into the role of Artistic Director alongside @kamacita for the @urbanarts_theateroberhausen sector and what a journey it has been.

From directing theater pieces to organizing festivals and events, collaborating with schools, and building platforms for the urban dance scene it’s incredible how much we’ve been able to create in just three years. None of this would have been possible without an amazing team, and of course, @kathrinmaedler , whose leadership as Intendantin has shaped Theater Oberhausen into such an open, innovative, and inspiring space where everyone feels welcome.

Receiving the Theaterpreis des Bundes is truly an honor. Grateful to be part of this journey.
