¡Felicidades, Gustavo!
Our soon-to-be musical leader has been triply honored. He delivered the commencement address at @USCEdu, where he received an honorary doctorate in recognition of his influence as an artist, educator, and cultural and civic leader. The @LAPhil announced two honorary titles for Gustavo as he completes his valedictory season with that orchestra: Artistic and Cultural Laureate, and Founding Director and Conductor Laureate of Youth Orchestra Los Angeles.

As part of our Unanswered Questions series, violinist Audrey Wright, and violist Leah Ferguson each performed a mini-recital following tours of MFIT’s spring exhibition Art x Fashion.
Together we explored the questions “Is fashion art?” and “How do wearable aesthetics relate to sound, music, and culture?”

This weekend, 16 students from INTEMPO — a Connecticut-based music education nonprofit serving children predominantly from immigrant backgrounds — traveled to NYC for an unforgettable performance by the @nyphilharmonic and incoming Music and Artistic Director, @gustavodudamel.
Following the performance, students had the extraordinary opportunity to meet Maestro Dudamel. Among many topics covered, students asked Maestro Dudamel for repertoire suggestions for INTEMPO’s 2027 Cultural Crossover Concert, which will celebrate Venezuelan music. 🇻🇪
“Meeting Gustavo Dudamel was such an inspiring experience for me as a musician,” said INTEMPO student and Heckel Family Scholar Jasmine. “Seeing his passion, energy, and connection to the music during the performance reminded me why I love music so much and inspired me to approach every performance with more emotion and purpose.”
INTEMPO is deeply grateful to the @nyphilharmonic and the @dudamelfoundation for making this experience possible.
